Has anyone installed leather insert in Firebird door panel?

Hi,

I am thinking of getting my seats recovered in a different color and would like to change the door insert with the same material. The door panel inserts are bonded to the plastic door panel. I cant see any way of changing the insert without making a mess. Has anyone done this or had a shop do it.

That looks very nice. Did you take the insert material off before you mounted the new panel. what did you screw it into. I have not had the door off so I assume its just cardboard backing.

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

The original material is not possible to take off, my alu panel is just screwed on the original door panel which is made of masonite.
