lt1 throttle cable question in 3rg gen!!!!
 

i have just about finished installing the lt1 in my 3rd gen Camaro i got the car running and driving but the throttle only opens 1/2 way with the LT1 throttle cable i purchased used its like to long and doesnt open up T/B to WOT any help with this would be great what did you guys use.

Sounds like you have to pull slack out of the cable at the throttle body or the gas peddle, that is assuming you have some sort of braket at the throttle body to hold the end of the cable stationary. The gas peddle has the same amount of throw as the throttle body closed to open.

You need a thirdgen TPI throttle cable, not a LT1 cable. I had the same thing happen to me. You will have to cut or modify the tpi cable slighty on its plastic part to get it to fit in the LT1 throttle cable bracket.

Or else you can get a 4th gen accelerator pedal to make the LT1 throttle cable work.

The throttle cable from a '91-'92 TPI will work just fine.

is there a way to make the LT1 cable work by bending the 3rd gen gas pedal as i heard someone doing before on another forum.

also another question i had was regarding the trans kickdown i have the 93 LT1 bracket which has a provision for the kickdown cable but when i installed it that cable also has like 1" or more to much slack i have the adjustment on it all the way back and it still isnt tight enough i drove it around the block and it shifts real crappy could this be because this cable is not properly tightened (and yes the tranny was programmed out of the pcm)

i have a 93' throttle body on there now thats how i have it connected so why is there slack if i have the t/b and the bracket that i need....do i need the cable also from a 93' the one it has is from the 87'

You can bend the pedal, I bought a TPI cable for 20 bucks at the dealer.

i just got it to work using the 4th gen lt1 cable and everything works fine.....

woot woot...
