Few wiring questions? I have a 99 ls1/t56 pcm. Does pcm need a signal from clutch switch to run or start? Is it safe to wire clutch switch with such small gauge wires into starting circuit which is a way heavier gauge wire? Can I take out the skip shift circuit if I do will it try to skip shift? I do have the skip shift eliminator on my donor car harness so should I keep it? Thanks in advance |
Re: Few wiring questions? Clutch switch to the PCM bumped idle when the clutch was in to help prevent a stall under load I.e. Ac on. It is optional. 4th gen pedals have the heavy starter switch in the back, but no connector. Female spade terminals do the job fine. Do not run the heavy gauge starter solenoid circuit through the smaller switch unless the switch is only activating a relay Skip shift can be removed from the harness. Tune it out of the PCM of it will throw a code. If there is nothing plugged into the solenoid, skip shift will not activate. Reverse lock is opposite, but I'd recommend keeping that feature |
Re: Few wiring questions? Was your car a T5 originally? I'm not even touching my clutch switch. All I'm doing for the starter is wiring it up to the LS1 starter as is. The PCM doesn't need the signal to start the motor. I'm tuning skip shift out via computer, there will be no wires for it in the harness. |
Re: Few wiring questions? Thanks a bunch guys. My iroc is auto car..I'm putting all pedals in from a 4th gen. I know I had seen a clutch signal in the 99 pcm pinout but didn't know the reason or function. I've already bypassed my vats relay but I guess I could have used that with clutch switch to allow car to start. May see if I can find the heavier switch pocket was talking about I know its in the car rubble somewhere. |
