Pulling LQ4 6.0 for 92 RS...what do I need from the donor vehicle?

Hi guys, I just picked up a 92 Rs 305 a couple weekends back and its my first third gen since 2000. I went and looked at an 04 express van with the LQ4 and 4l80e today intending on doing a swap and ended up purchasing it after hearing it run. Im the one who has to pull everything so im asking what is it I need from the donor vehicle? Obviously engine, trans, pcm, wiring harness, pedal assembly (?),.......anything else? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Being in the proper forum may help.

Yeah, get all that.

You need the MAF from the air inlet ducting. The rest probably won't help, as you'll be fabricating an inlet/filter tract. The IAT is in the MAF.

I'd suggest also getting the engine fuse/relay box. Might not be as big of a deal since your car is already EFI, but personally, I think it's easier to use the factory LS part and taking out what you don't need, rather than chasing down the factory 3rd gen equivalent.

Keep the fuel lines that attach to the engine. Disconnect them from the chassis side. You'll still need to do some adapting, but IMO, the LS engine hose is the better way to go.

The nice thing about the Express PCM harness is it is very long, meaning you can put the PCM pretty much wherever you want.

Thanks 57kid, I really appreciate you answering and filling me in. Sorry if it was in the wrong forum....didn't even notice. Thanks so much again. Marc

The harness from my LQ4/4L80E from a 2003 3500 Express van (basically same thing w/o DBW), going into my '57 Bel Air:

After I took out the stuff that wasn't going to be used (actually took out some more wires later, by ganging up the injector power wires for each bank):

One of my favorite pics, taken just before the engine/trans was stabbed in the car:

I didn't get the engine fuse/relay box for this one (did for the '82 Berlinetta LS1/4L60E swap), so I used a Painless box. Worked out okay. But I still like the factory fuse/relay box better.

sounds like you have everything on the list to help make the swap a bit easier. Take your time when it comes to tearing into the harness after getting it home. More detailed prep work done here with pay off in the long run. There are plenty of info on this site to get the job done.
