LSA Swap in a 92 Camaro (Fitment)

Thinking of swapping an LSA in my Camaro, could someone explain the fitment issues I would have when trying to put one in the car? Also could I use the stock crossmember and notch it for AC like any other LS swap?

You can notch the k-member as long as the lsa has the fbody oil pan. The lt4 fits under the stock hood the other LSA's require a cowl hood to clear the supercharger lid.

Wouldn’t a cts-v lid fit under the stock hood?

Depends on the year. The early versions use the larger supercharger lid the later ones are the lt4 set up. Do a search as to which one you want to use.

here you go. The lt4 is 4 inches shorter to clear the stock hood

Lets clear some stuff up

LSA found in Cadillac CTS-V's used the silver low profile lid
LSA from a ZL1 camaro used the black lid with the lump up front

Same engine, different lid and PS pump. (ZL1 were electric steering so used idler)

The last pic of a LT4 is a GEN V engine common in 6th gen ZL1 camaros, V3 CTS-V's and Z06 C7 corvettes. Not the same animal. Not even the same engine family of LS

Back to the LSA swap:

Physically, so get the car in, you need to move the engine forward 1" from a traditional LS swap location to clear the wiper motor. If not running a wiper motor, then a standard LS swap mount kit will suffice. The long block is externally, no different than any other LS

The FEAD is very close to a 4th gen camaro layout, but on a shorter offset from the block

You still need a 4th gen camaro pan with the stock K-member. Tubular K's can also use C5/6 oil pans and a few aftermarkets. Find a low profile, rear sump pan and you'll be fine

Lids can be tricky. CTS-V lids fit both camaro and bird hoods. ZL1 lids can fit camaro hoods with some bracing trimmed away. They will NOT clear a stock bird hood. cowls and RAI/II hoods may clear. YMMV

Electronics are a basic GEN IV E67 with a few connectors moved around. The SC can be mounted on GEN III LS engines as well and custom wired to suit

Fuel, basic LS

Exh, basic LS

Really nothing special other than the lid

I plan on grabbing an iroc hood and cutting it to add functional Louvers, would it still clear the stock hood?
