LS oil pan question Picked up a 5.3 ls engine today. It was in a Firebird and had this oil pan on it. Remote oil filter. I'm assuming it's an ebay special, no marking on it that I can see. Anyone know if they are decent? Guy I got it from said if fit good around the k member. https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.thi...e43b806fa4.jpg |
Re: LS oil pan question Hard to tell if they are decent or not until you pull it and look inside. Look for internal baffling and areas of reinforcement since the pans are a structural part of the engine. |

Re: LS oil pan question I'd be worried about clearance issues with the remote filter lines. Also consider the quality of that piece. Do you really want to have to replace the oil pan when those welds start to leak? The oil pan is such an integral part to the engine I'd hate for you to get your engine in and have to work to replace it in the near future. Here's the one I run and it's a very high quality piece with great fitment (also using the Holley mounts) https://www.holley.com/products/acce...gm/parts/302-2 |
Re: LS oil pan question Thanks for the suggestion. Holley was one of the brands I'll be considering for a pan and few other things. This pan seems to have decent clearance from the measurements I took and compared to a few other pans. I'm pretty sure the pan in question is this one. https://www.speedwaymotors.com/LS-Sw...ng,231389.html Anyone ever use one? |
