6.0L Swap help

I have a '86 Camaro Berlinetta 2.8L V6 and while the car is fun I have had it for 2 years now and I'm looking to have a little more fun with it I've decided I'm probably going with a 6.0 but I'm not set on it so if anyone has a different opinion that I should go with a 5.3 for example let me know I would also prefer fuel injection over carbureted and would also prefer a manual trans currently looking at used parts from craigslist such as motors haven't found a trans yet but it seems like I can usually find 6.0L engines for around $800 running with water pump, alternator etc. but I would like to hear your thoughts on cost wise how much it will be around so I can start allocating funds for the project I am also planning on fabricating my own mounts however this might change in the future depending on access to tools and difficulty of doing so please let me know your thoughts much appreciated - prairieboy

Take a moment to go to the engine swap section under LS/LT and check out the guides and various build thread. Should point you in the right direction.

If you want a manual, THE cheapest way is to buy a running LS1 4th gen. You get all the front accessories that fit, the computer, the harness (easy to clean up and modify). Plus, you know it all works. Since you're parting the car out, find one in poor shape, wrecked, whatever.
You also get the 4th gen rear end, and all the components for the LS1 brake upgrades front and rear... All you have to do is get some front hubs and the caliper brackets.
The seats bolt right in as well.
You also get the coolant and washer bottles that guys will put in to make hidden set ups, making space in the engine bay.

A buddy of mine did an LS1/T56 swap in to his E30, and he followed my advice. Bought a full car, and he sold the parts he didn't need off that car and ended up making most of his money back...
