My 1989 Camaro RS This is my first third gen. I bought it like the first week of December 2010 for only a thousand bucks. It runs perfectly. All I had to do was change the oil and get new tires for it to be completely drivable. As far as I can tell everything on it is pretty much stock except the exhaust and possibly the wheels. I plan on doing the interior first, then new hood maybe, paint. Thinking of going back to its original color of white. Anywho, I don't have many pics right now but I'll take more when I get the time. https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/pict...ictureid=23353 https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/pict...ictureid=23354 https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/pict...ictureid=23355 https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/pict...ictureid=23356 |
Re: My 1989 Camaro RS Looks like you have a good solid foundation to start with. Does it have a V6 or V8? |

Re: My 1989 Camaro RS Those wheel caps suggest being off an S10. I think the 91-92 Z28 wheels came with they're own cap that has Chevrolet on them. Looks like a solid platform. More shots of the interior? Engine? |
Re: My 1989 Camaro RS I like them. I think if you polished the wheels as shiny as the caps, it would look stunning |

Re: My 1989 Camaro RS Nice find! That car looks clean! I think white would be killer with those wheels polished! I love my little 305 T.B.I. She isn't the fastest, but with the right exhaust combo these cars sound killer! Enjoy! |
Re: My 1989 Camaro RS center caps are from a ZQ8 packaged early 2nd gen s10... pre s10 xtreme |
Re: My 1989 Camaro RS https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/pict...ictureid=23367 https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/pict...ictureid=23369 Excuse the mess. Headliner is out right now and I have the speakers out. Hopefully gonna replace them. The original speakers were still in it. https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/pict...ictureid=23370 Rear seat is faded a bit. https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/pict...ictureid=23371 https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/pict...ictureid=23372 Someone who owned the car before straight wired the fan, so it's on all the time as soon as I turn the key. |
Re: My 1989 Camaro RS Eh the fan thing isn't really a big deal, its a nice car though it looks alot like mine. Pretty much the same interior and everything. |
Re: My 1989 Camaro RS Those are stock 91-92 camaro rims with different center caps. I use chevy venture center caps before, they are plain caps with no markings. It was an easy cheap mod. Car looks like a good project, good luck with her. |
Re: My 1989 Camaro RS Redid my headliner and attempted the dashpad yesterday. The dashpad didn't come out as well as I would have liked but it looks better than it did. https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/pict...ictureid=23514 https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/pict...ictureid=23513 |

Sure I wont have enough room under the hood for all that. I was thinking just a 2" Sunoco Cowl hood maybe. but, that'll be later on IF I even do it. |
Re: My 1989 Camaro RS Got some new wheels and tires this weekend. I'm very satisfied with them. https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/pict...ictureid=24079 https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/pict...ictureid=24078 |

Re: My 1989 Camaro RS Went and got a new used hood last Friday morning. Not in new condition but not bad I don't think for only a hundred bucks. https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/pict...ictureid=24224 |
Re: My 1989 Camaro RS I have a question about my Daytona hood. I need my car to be a dd and I'm afraid water will get in the engine bay and get on something that doesn't need to be wet, mainly distributor and stuff, through the vents on the side of the scoop and at the rear of the hood near the firewall. What can I do to make sure that not much water gets in the bay? |

Re: My 1989 Camaro RS 2 Attachment(s) Finally had the chance to change my oil again and spark plugs for the first time. Also got to test out some ramps I built. Does it take anyone else a good while to change the plugs and wires? Heres some pics of my ramps: Attachment 388387 Attachment 388388 |
Re: My 1989 Camaro RS Arent those taillights from the earlier model camaros 82-84 mabye? just curious BTW, very nice car, for what you paid, you did very well :) I mean what can you buy for a grand car wise, not much at all |
Re: My 1989 Camaro RS Not bad at all for $1k.....Those rally wheels really changed the total appearance of the car...I love it..! |

Re: My 1989 Camaro RS 1 Attachment(s) Well, been a while and I haven't done a whole lot to the car. I spray painted the hood black for now just so it matches. Hopefully gonna get the whole car painted within the next 6 months. Also got an open air cleaner finally. Here's a pic of the car as of right now. Attachment 386566 I also got some plexi-glass type of stuff to put on the sides of the hood where the vents are. Can still see in it but no water or anything can get in obviously. |
Re: My 1989 Camaro RS Look great, nice progress, btw what size of tires are those? |
Re: My 1989 Camaro RS Looks Sweet Dude, I'm going to take my Daytona hood off my Old Iroc and Put it on my New Iroc Too, IMO they're the best hoods hands down, did you ever get that water thing taken care of? |
Re: My 1989 Camaro RS @Apolo I'm not too sure on the size really but I think 215/65/15 maybe? I'll double check on my break. @KamikazeIroccy I somewhat got the water thing fixed. I just put some plexi-glass on the inside of the hood over the vents on the side. I'll take some pictures of it on my break also. |
Re: My 1989 Camaro RS VERY NICE. Almost make me envious. I love the hood. That is freakin awsome. You should crop that latest picture and make it your sig. |

Re: My 1989 Camaro RS That would look cool, but I think black with the red louvers on the hood with the red interior is the best color scheme for that car. Just my opinion. Do what looks best to you. |

Re: My 1989 Camaro RS Keep your eyes open at the wrecking yards for the sunshade/privacy cover and the trunk lid.(I think that's what they are called) I picked mine up real cheep at pic-n-pull and even though the rear hatch is close to limo tint it still helps with keeping things covered .Your car is coming along nicely by the way. http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/1217/47159415.jpg |
Re: My 1989 Camaro RS 3 Attachment(s) Here's a pic of the engine bay with the new open air cleaner. Attachment 386366 And a few pictures of the plexi-glass type of stuff I put over the vents on each side of the hood. Attachment 386367 Attachment 386368 |
Re: My 1989 Camaro RS 1 Attachment(s) I got a new set of lights Monday and finally got them completely installed today. I think they look really good and they're a huge improvement over the stock headlights and bumper, side marker lights. Here's a pic. Attachment 384568 |
Re: My 1989 Camaro RS Bro, where'd you order them from? Forward me the information, those look nice! Good job |
Re: My 1989 Camaro RS http://tiny.cc/p7m9a There's the link to what I bought. They also have a set with smoked bumper and side markers. And a non-halo version of the set. |
Re: My 1989 Camaro RS Thank you kindly Sir, You're doing a good job with the Camaro Bro! Keep it up |
Re: My 1989 Camaro RS 2 Attachment(s) Long time no update on my car. I ordered new exhaust for it at the end of last week and am getting it put on in the next few days. I got Hedman headers part #: 68470, the true dual dynomax part #:89009, and a thrush dual in dual out muffler. But I'm thinking of getting two glasspacks instead so it will actually be true duals. Also since my last update I have lost a hood louver going down the highway and had to ordered some used ones off eBay. I've also had to bypass my VATS system because of the relay behind the drivers side kick panel went out. So I just went ahead and put a switch in for that and some diodes on the wires coming from the ignition switch. Anywho, here's some pics of the Exhaust when i got it Friday and a newer pic of the camaro. Exhaust: Attachment 372540 New picture: Attachment 372541 |
Re: My 1989 Camaro RS Looks like its coming along rather nicely  |
Re: My 1989 Camaro RS Post a video of the exhaust when it's done! I'm looking to put headers on my car eventually too. Car looks great, you're doing a great job. |
