Quick wash of my 1992 RS! 6 Attachment(s) My friend and I ave my Camaro a quick wash yesterday and here are the results! Nothing to really show off but I haven't posted about my car in a while and also need some ideas. My front wheels are ruined. The brake dust will not get off and they look horrible! Any ideas how to make them look like the back? Here are the pics! Attachment 368743 Attachment 368744 Attachment 368745 Here are the wheels. First driver side, then passenger. Attachment 368746 Attachment 368747 And this pic is just one spot that needs to be fixed. Caused by a leaky gas cap that I found out shortly after I bought the car. Attachment 368748 |
Re: Quick wash of my 1992 RS! Paint your wheels black.. or any color you want... even re paint them white but they will get dirty again.. i painted my wheels with rustoleum primer and engine paint.. try bbq paint that one last the longest |
Re: Quick wash of my 1992 RS! I know they will get dirty but I would stay on top of it more. That's why they are this bad. Should I strip them first? I'd want a factory match color. |
Re: Quick wash of my 1992 RS! you can take them off the car and use simple green. I will take the dust off but be carefull because it can take any coating off the wheel, so don't leave it on to long |
Re: Quick wash of my 1992 RS! I'll give that a try. Isn't simple green a household cleaner? Didn't know it was that powerful. |
Re: Quick wash of my 1992 RS! What do you guys think of the car? Any tips? Suggestions? I need ideas of how to clean the seats. The passenger seat has had many spills on it. |
Re: Quick wash of my 1992 RS! The wheels on mine were discolored and had some curb rash, I've been reading how people are using plasti-dip on their wheels. So I gave it a try, turned out really good. Looks like I got brand new wheels n there. Best part, it's not a permanent thing, if I get tired of it or decide to sell the wheels. I can just pull it off. I've got some pictures of how they turned out at the end of this thread. Since your wheels look to be in pretty rough shape, might be something to try. Won't hurt anything, and you don't have to worry about screwing up. If you do, just peel it off. |
Re: Quick wash of my 1992 RS! If you want to get the wheels clean, I recommend picking up some Mothers Polished Aluminium Wheel Cleaner. This stuff is strongly acidic and got a '99 Suburban's wheels squeaky clean after oven cleaner, baking soda, and many other abrasives didn't do anything. The wheels had never been cleaned and were pretty bad. After I cleaned them they had a white tinge and they were polished aluminum! I personally don't know what materiel 80's GM wheels are made of, but this stuff should be safe for it. It's like $7.00 for a 24 oz. bottle and you can get it at AutoZone, O'Reilly's, or Advance. I don't know how much crap it'll get out of the wheels, but it definitely won't hurt. http://www.mothers.com/02_products/06024.html |

Re: Quick wash of my 1992 RS! 2 Attachment(s) I bought simple green and mothers wheel and tire cleaner. They did better than anything else I've tried, but the wheels are still terrible. Attachment 367960 Attachment 367961 |
