I love the Stance and the hellaflush style and it's a eccentric base for this project :) |
Re: 86 camaro with JDM drift style I honestly dont care for the stretch tires and camber thing that the import guys are going for. Maybe it's because I'm ignorant to the reason why they do it. I just haven't cared to research. But I got to give it to you man, the car looks good. It's nice to see some one going away from the mainstream, and being different. Also I never realized the resemblance between the thirdgen and the imports that you posted. I'm not liking the rear bumper, but honestly I think it might look alright with rectangle exhaust tips. |
Re: 86 camaro with JDM drift style subscribed! :) |
Re: 86 camaro with JDM drift style Welcome Nice to see American muscle over seas. You have a very nice car and I really like the rims you put on. Just not a fan of the stretched tires. I like a lot of meat on the road. Have fun modifying your car your way and welcome to ThirdGen |
Re: 86 camaro with JDM drift style thanks :) i practice the japan/usdm/jdm since 10 years, but i always dream of camaro, and i want see the result of this mix :) American muscle was very appreciate in France, but are more expensive than your with importation. French peoples prefer photoshoting a american muscle than a Porsches because of they are extremely rare :) for stretching tires, i love this look, it a solution for drop the car a little more. i drive anothers car with and i never had problems at present, more stretch than this could became dangerous thank you too for your welcome :) I am sorry if my english is doesn't very well |
Re: 86 camaro with JDM drift style Looks good. |

I like the way this Camaro is going. I agree with you on the extreme wheel camber some of the tuner guys are doing. Ive driven by a few of these cars and see how they drive and it just looks like a shi**y ride. |
Re: 86 camaro with JDM drift style There is no problem of camber with he camaro because it impossible to made negative camber at the rear ;) , or i didn't know how procced |
Re: 86 camaro with JDM drift style How do you like the Koni/ Weight Jack setup? I'm planning on ordering it soon. |
Re: 86 camaro with JDM drift style Don't worry about your English, it's better than a lot of American's written English. I can easily follow yours versus having no idea what others are writing. I like the direction you are taking with the car. The modifications you have made so far are good ones. I am not a fan of the stretched tire look either, but I really like those wheels. I would have gone with a 315 in the rear and a 275 in the front, but that is because I am more of a road course guy and traction is key. |
Re: 86 camaro with JDM drift style nice to see some oversees thirdgen love. some of your mods may not tickle my fancy but your pulling it off. lets so some pics of this thing in action and some more mods! |
Re: 86 camaro with JDM drift style soooo am i the only one who noticed the "tuned porn injection" sticker? great thread love it. just wonderin tho lol |
Re: 86 camaro with JDM drift style Lol You see good IROC-Z123 ^^ it's a subtle home made sticker ^^ Robber Ducky, Koni yellow and ground controls is a great set up, the camaro became hard but always confortable ;) |
Re: 86 camaro with JDM drift style I never thought I'd find the owner of this car, I have been looking for info on it ever since I first saw it online. Are those wheel offsets before or after you factored in the spacers? And what did you end up doing with your rear fender lips, roll them or cut? And what spring rates do you have? |
Re: 86 camaro with JDM drift style I want to see more of this build! Awesome ideas and very different. Digging it! |

I doesn't remember if i take 800 or 1000 all arround for the spring rate the wheels offset is ET5 all arround and with the spacers is -25front -15rear for the fenders, front is stock now (but with 0.5 drop more, i need to cut the inner fender) rear, the inner fender is cut, the bumpstop is remove, and i install only the spring (not the ring for the ride height) i dream to drop it like your but with this offset and 19 inch wheels, it's very difficult i need to repare ignitions, more news coming soon ;) |
Re: 86 camaro with JDM drift style The only thing I'm not liking about this car is the stretched tires. And the V6. Otherwise, awesome build and I hope to see more! |
Re: 86 camaro with JDM drift style Do you have any pictures showing the rear lip? I'm thinking I may have to cut mine too but I want to see if it's going to be noticeable. |
Re: 86 camaro with JDM drift style i have this pict but this quality is bad http://i56.servimg.com/u/f56/16/48/12/25/photo410.jpg i try to make another this weekend |

Re: 86 camaro with JDM drift style Nice car! Different and great! Garde le propre! Il sont très rare par chez-vous les camaros propre comme sa! |
Re: 86 camaro with JDM drift style Welcome to the board and 3rd Gen Camaros...... Have fun with your vision....... from an engineering standpoint keep in mind how much more tire width / offset your putting on stock ? parts. Check the torque of your wheel spacers after you run them for a time. They have been known to loosen up. I've run one inch ( 2.5cm ) without problems and did check them in maintenance for torque. The fender lips can possible be rolled so there are no sharp edges to cut a tire. Have fun..... |
Re: 86 camaro with JDM drift style thanks you all of you ;) when he cut the rear fender, my body shop' man make a a "gasket cream" (sorry i didn't know how you tell this in USA) for proof the rust and the sharp edges |

I communicate with alot of people in Europe and all over the world in another hobby I have. Do you use google to translate ? |

Not really sure. Probably closer to seam sealer though. |
Re: 86 camaro with JDM drift style yes i think is it :) |
Re: 86 camaro with JDM drift style I love this build and I'm glad I've found someone else on this forum who appreciates Japanese style. I'm building my car very similar except a bit lower and more aggressive. What are your future plans for your car? |
Re: 86 camaro with JDM drift style Thanks you, yes i love japanese cars, 3 mounths ago i slammed my s2k, it was more easy than this third gen. At this time i need to order a ignition coil, air and fuel filters after, i start the roll cage or the need fender lip and rear bumper And in the future maybe a LS engine swap |
Re: 86 camaro with JDM drift style dude, your car is pretty kick *** |
Those wheels are awesome 91' bird 305 TBI T-5, trick flow heads, 4.10 gears, full UMI setup, track times coming soon! |
Re: 86 camaro with JDM drift style Its a good looking are man. It's not the style I would do with mine, but I love the direction your going in. Its unique, and you made it your own. The stretched tire look isn't bad in in my opinion, again not my style, but very cool. The only recommendation I would give is put a V8 in the car. Are small block chevy engines hard to come by out there? |
Re: 86 camaro with JDM drift style Not a fan of the wheel style but love the whole concept of the car! |
