Picked this thing up yesterday. Pretty much unmolested. Few things have been changed over the years. Steering wheel and shifter handles being a few of the things. But most original parts came with it. Car is loaded except for power mirrors for some strange reason. Even has factory locking gas cap cover.

Nice! Plan to restore it or restomod it?

I would love to pick up an older one like this and Restomod it... I think the lines on the bumpers look great on these!

For now i'm going to clean it all up for the season. Lower it 2", tubular everything underneath, flushmount headlight conversion and a few other small things. I want to keep the body stock even when its repainted I am going to put all decals back on,etc. Not sure I want to do anything to this car that can't be undone back to stock.

I too like these early thirdgens. I could have bought GTA's all day long instead of this car. But there is something about these I like much better.

Another project that is nearly a bolt in is the 85mph speedo delete. I had this 130mph camaro speedo left over from another project which will due until I get the 150mph camaro speedo. Use the needle from your old speedo. IMO this mod is a must for 82-85 cars. You lose your trip meter which doesn't bother me. There is a spot for high beam and brake light but those get blocked off.

Mocked up until white face gauges arrive, The t/a speedo looks much bigger but it is not. The excess material on the t/a speedo give it that effect. They are pretty much identical in size.

The 3rdgen camaro speedo will fit in the firebird housing. I have seen an Iroc speedo put into a 82-85 t/a housing. The one I used is from a second gen which fits better.

I am assuming the 84 TA speedo was illuminated red when dash lights are on. Was that done with red bulbs - will that have any effect on the Camaro speedo illumination?

The camaro speedo is blue on the backside and the bird gauges are all orange. Which creates the lighting effect. I am either going to spray the backside of the camaro speedo neon orange to match. Or just use the 86-92 bird red "condoms" that slip over the bulbs to create the red gauge lighting.

Ah, I was wondering on that. So it is the orange back of the face and the red bulb cover that does that.

Thanks and good luck!
