Der91Z 04-11-2004 11:49 PM

Don't feel bad Tim, i may be doing the same later on, as i'm planning on restoring my dads 68 Camaro SS. Something that will always be worth more than my 1991 Z28. So are you getting out of the racing scene for the time being? Are you getting a minivan?

I didn't even know you were selling it... Any plans on what you're going to get next?

1991tealRSt-topGuy 06-14-2004 12:30 AM

bah, i wound up with an L98, not an LT1:D

TRAXION 06-14-2004 07:12 AM

Yeeeup. She is gone. My car was sold to a member of TGO ... 92 Formula - Awesome guy who is taking very good care of her!

My next project is 'up in the air' for now. Don't be surprised if you eventually see me in an all wheel drive turbo r1ce burner ... or a gay all wheel drive dodge wagon with a hemi. Whatever I do it is going to be the last thing that somebody would expect me to do (unless you know me really well). I loved my '90 when it was mine and it is an awesome car. However, it was just time for me to move into something that fits my lifestyle more now. I want a performance car that has a lot of potential but is also capable of being driven every day in all sorts of weather conditions. Thus, all wheel drive is going to be key. This also makes the car devastatingly fast from a stoplight :D I'm also looking for something that I can shove my kid(s) into. Yea - I'm a dad now and I want my cake and eat it too. So - how many AWD, 4 door cars exist with huge performance potential? Not many ... but there are some. I'm shooting for a daily driver capable of easy 12's on pump gas (note my use of the word easy). I'm looking for 350hp to all wheels in a 3000lb car or 450hp to all wheels in a 4000lb car. The car will be legal with catalytic converters, etc.

What I am going to enjoy most about this new project is the ability to always drive it ... even when it snows ... and the ability to take it out for a nice romp with my son strapped in a car seat in the back

Tim

ES87iroc 06-14-2004 09:05 AM

Ahh, gotcha.

I went a slightly different route. The baby seat's in the back of the tbird. :)

Roomy, comfy, cold a/c'd reliable car, yet has a peppy v8, RWD, a big trunk and is a general nice style car. :D

(That and ABS/airbags are kinda nice to have in a driver...)

TTA 1387 06-14-2004 09:28 AM

Tim,
Alky injection is what you need :) I'd recommend www.alkycontrol.com since its progressive and seemless. Noting like running a race gas tune on pump gas. A gallon of denatured alcohol, from Home Depot, is about $9. It lasts quite awhile also.

Rob - did you run this on your TTA? Just curious if this is from your personal experience. It would be nice to have several different maps. 91 octane, 93 octane, and 93 octane + Water/Alky injection. This is easily do-able but just more curious about this whole water/alky injection since I am new to it.

I had the old SMC kit. It was a single nozzle that had an adjustable turn on point and adjustable flow. But it hit all at once where ever you set it at. I had mine coming in around 10-11psi. There was a lag of about 2psi before it got to the up pipe if you didn't hit the prime button. So with mine, there was transitional knock if it wasn't primed. And if under part throttle, it would surge with all the alky being dumped in.

Julio's kit is much nicer. He had the same kit as I did, I recommended it to him a few years ago. He did a lot of brain storming and came up with his kit. His you can turn on at 1psi and it ramps up to whatever boost you are running. I think he hit 28psi a couple of times on 93 octane. If I kept the car, I would have sold my kit and bought his. His doesn't allow transitional knock or the part throttle surge.

With alky, you have one tune...set on kill. It takes a little while to get everything squared away. At least for me as I was conservative and snuck up on it slowly.

I'm smelling a STI or EVO in the works for Traxion. Also look into a Audi S4, the twin turbo one, not the v8. I can't blame him, i'm about to pick up a Supra TT or a M3.

I looked into the Audi S4 TT for the wife already :) However, they have reliability issues with the turbos :( It would be a perfect car for my wife but I don't want to have to worry about a turbo waving goodbye at only 60,000 miles.
