Virginia inspection? Just moved to VA (loudoun county) and I was trying to clear some things up about getting VA tags on my '89 Firebird. On the dmv website it says cars with gasoline engines older than 25 yrs are exempt from emissions testing but yet I see a bunch of threads on people trying to pass? Is my car exempt or am I missing something? |
Re: Virginia inspection? with an 89 you should only need the state inspection , no emissions at 25 years old you can vintage tag the car. no state inspection or emissions. also no personal property tax but there are technically some restrictions. |
Re: Virginia inspection? Being a state inspector I get question asked a lot. I live in the Va. Beach area where there are no emissions testing. However if you live in northern Va. close to the DC area they do have that. It's best to check with an inspection station to get the proper information. Being 25 yrs. old you can get a vintage tag, however along with that your car insurance will change, since your declaring it an antique per se. There are limitations on mileage and driving ability-so it's not a daily driver. If you have any question about it feel free to pm me. You can also check the Virginia state police website for inspection information also. |
Re: Virginia inspection? In Virginia, 25 years old = no more emissions testing. |
