Third Generation F-Body Message Boards

Hello all,:waveman: and Thank You fr having me. As you can see I am new to this forum. My wife and I are retired, and live in NW Illinois. For the last several years I have been restoring Lawn Boy mowers, and all kinds of garden tractors. Then I saw this auction on line.:doh: I sort of accidentally bought an '89 Camaro RS. You might ask what a 70 years old guy is going to do with a Camaro. My wife asked the same thing. Over, and over, and over, and...........I say accidentally because I never expected my bid to win the car, but it's in my garage. It has very little rust for an '89, and it's rough looking both inside and out, but it had very nice, brand new tires and wheels on it. I took them off, and replaced them with stock. I think I could possibly sell them for what I paid for the car. It has been in my storage building since Feb, I didn't plan to start working on it until I had a few other projects out of the way, but events necessitated I get it street ready now. After replacing the fuel pump, getting out that God awful smelling gas, cleaning the TBI, and replacing the spark plugs, it actually runs pretty decent. Although I do have some quirks to work out. Mostly electrical issues. Go figure. The only lights that work in the interior are the gauge cluster, which I just installed, and the two little arrows for the blinkers. That's it. I have checked all the fuses I have found. That being under the dash on the drivers side. They are all good. I am still trying to find a comprehensive wiring diagram for this car. I have one for a '90. I can't believe there would be that much difference. In the diagram I did see, I only saw one fuseable link, and if that were bad, I don't think the car would run at all. Are there fuses hidden somewhere else?
I have another question about the brakes. In the 70's when I bled brakes, it was a 2 person job. One pumped, one bled. I now have a brake bleeding kit that I can't use, because the bleeder screw is recessed in a hole. I can't get a hose fitting on the screw, and a wrench, both at the same time. One or the other' So I reverted to the two person method. My wife joyfully :D being the pumper, while I was the bleeder. In the past when bleeding brake, once you crack the bleeder screw, the pedal goes to the floor. Not so with the rear brakes on the car. I replaced the entire brake line from the master cylinder, to the splitter block in the back. The lines from the splitter block to each wheel had already been recently replace by someone. They look almost new. Should the pedal not got to the floor? :huh: When we bled the front brakes, the pedal went completely to the floor, as I am use to.

As time goes on, I am sure I will have lots more questions. I appreciate any help you can give. Thanks Greg

I had to switch to my old computer to load these pics. I have not quite figured out everything on the new one yet. Anyway, what is this thing? It was dangling by a wire hasness, near the oil filter. I didn't see any place to insert it, and I have no idea where it goes, or what it does. ?????
