86 El Camino 383 stroker

Just Purchased a 86 383 stroker not sure of transmission yet. Has 10 bolt differential. They say they blow the motor but oil still full has gas smell. No Evidence of water. Trans fluids look fresh. My Question was what can I Expect to spend on going though motor/rebuild? Just picked it up today. barn find. looks like it's been high performance added. fuel gauge and headers. ty

maybe a whole engine? do you want the same engine built or get a used one?
