Smog canister? hoses? need help Heres the story i bought this project car (83 firebird) about 2 years ago however i got set back on the current project car at the time (really set back 2 years :( ) Now i finished that project and have moved on to the firebird The previous owner swaped a 91 TPI LB9 in to it, well i'm in california and the smog check is really strict here. so i set up an appointment to the state reff to get the motor "BAR" stamped on Nov 2 next friday. As a precaution i started to check to all the emmission equipment and wires, the problem i ran into was that i now found two hoses that lead out of the smog cannister (i think thats the smog canister) and lead to nothing then i found a hose that leads from the fir wall and then to nothing and theres also a plug that goes to nothing. If any one could please let me know where they go and snap some pics it would be greatly appreciated. below are the pics: (HQ pics may take a while to load on slower internet connections) Passenger side canister with two hoses that lead to nothing http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l1...2006/fpc2h.jpg http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l1..._2006/pc2h.jpg Driver side one hose leads from the fire wall then to nothing and then theres a two wire plug that to nothing http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l1..._2006/dfhp.jpg http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l1...c_2006/dhf.jpg thanks in advance to every one. |
Re: Smog canister? hoses? need help The hose that has a 'T' fitting just goes into the fenderwell. Seriously, those hoses aren't supposed to go to anything, as far as I know they are an air inlet and should be tucked into the fenderwell. Then there should be another hose that comes from your tank with a pressure control valve on it, and finally a hose that goes to your throttle body. It looks like everything is hooked up properly in the pic. As for the hose coming from your firewall, try to figure out where the other end goes. I don't believe it is emissions related, unless it is the hose that is supposed to go to the vent line coming from the fuel tank. That connector has some heavy gauge wiring. I can't honestly tell you what that is supposed to go to. As long as your car has a functioning cat, functioning EGR, and the charcoal canister and smog pump are in place I don't see why your car wouldn't pass inspection. |
