Can I pull a sub 13.5??

Currently my 1990 IrocZ is capable of a 14.3x... I was able to pull a 14.51 with a 1.99 60' but I have achieved a 1.88 60' in the past... so 14.3x is possible (with good driving).

The car has only these mods: !airboxes w/ k&ns, TB foil, Accel 8mm wires cap&rotor, a mildly worked 700R4 with stock stall and energy mount, and KYB GR2's front and back.

That is it! No breathment at all as far as the TPI system and exhaust is concerned.

So, with a ported plenum, as&m ltr's, ported edelbrock base, headers & a catback am I thinking correctly a sub 13.5 or even a high 13.5x is possible?

If not, will 1.6 rockers added to the mod list get me there?
Just wondering, as this is the first stage of my mod plans before I do something about a new or rebuilt 350 powerplant.

this probably belongs more in the tech/general engine board, but oh well...

if i were you, and i was planning on a 350 swap in the future, i'd stay away from buying 305 specific parts. I'd go with the rockers first. Personally, tpi isn't my thing, so i can't put in any positive comments there...

i'd almost tell you to worry less about the engine and more about the suspension, drop the 60ft times with lca's and relocation brackets, look at torque arms, things like that are going to be just as important with a 305 as a stout 350...why throw money at something you plan to get rid of?

It IS a 350. ;)

hmm, skimmed over that when i saw the new or rebuilt 350 powerplant statement...my bad...

if you intend on sticking with tpi, go balls to the wall man, i don't claim to know what i'm talking about when it comes to tpi, but i think i the consensus of the tpi board is that you should start with the lower intake, the as&m ltr's seem to be pretty popular and port the plenum...based on what you had planned, you know that already.

do you have a chip in the car? i was, at one time going to run an lt1 intake on my car, don't waste your time with superchips or hypertech if you haven't already, get one custom burned by someone that knows everything about your car, or buy the equipment and learn to do it yourself.

there's a member named jfreeman or something similar, he's got an 85, probably a little less weight than you, and as your probably know, 85's had a ****ty computer, the old style hei dist (not the divorced coil you have), and he had a 305. he's running 13.7 with headers, a new cat, 3.42 posi, underdrive pulleys, and a pro-built 700r4 with a 2800 stall...you shouldn't have any problems going 13.5, you've got a much more potent engine...

I agree with every thing he said. A better/higher stall converter
will if chosen properly might get you .30 t0 .40ths off your present
e.t.s.1.8x are pretty good 60 ft times.I believe your going to need more hp to beat that number unless you are still spinning. But a stall or more gear should help both.
