NT555r+autocross? Hello, Has anyone here run Nitto DR at an autocross? I am thinking about a pair of DR, but also want to autocross the car without having several sets of tires. |
Nitto make a autocross verison of those tires - but only in the 275-40-17 size. |
Thanks, A little more info, I am looking for a 16" to go on stock IROC rims, and my only choice in Nitto Drag Radial is a 245/50-16. I really wish that they made the NT555RII in a 16 to fit on Thirdgens, I would buy them in a heartbeat. The car is going to be a very limited street (like to and from racing) /autoX/bracket race only, and I am not too concerned with tire life. Closest autoX is 45min away, closest drag strip is 2 hours. Connecticut sucks! |
Don't know your budget but you can get these Michelin's in 245/45-16. Don't know how they compare to Nitto's in a drag but I imagine they would be a lot better at the auto-x track than drag radials. I'd question whether the side walls on the DR's would hold up under hard cornering. I'm sure they do good in a street enviroment but if they are optimized for straight line hook-up the extreme enviroment of a solo II course might cause them to roll over excessivley. |
