Thirdgen in the world’s fastest car race Don’t now if it has happened before, but there is a -86 trans-am starting in the Silver State Classic Challenge tomorrow. The car is, as you can imagine, extremely modified. The owner and driver, a Norwegian member of thirdgen.org, has modified the car over many years. The car is just an amazing machine. Here is some links to websites where you can see the car. Unfortunately the text is in Norwegian, but I hope you can get an idea:) 1407hp, 0-64mph: 2.23sec, 1/8mile: 5,91sec/127mph, 1/4mile: 9,19sec/155mph, top speed 245mph (wet track in Germany) http://www.pollymotorsport.no/index.php?mapping=2 http://www.pollymotorsport.no/index.php?mapping=18 http://www.pollymotorsport.no/index.php?mapping=19 http://www.pollymotorsport.no/index.php?mapping=20 Endjoy |
Re: Thirdgen in the world’s fastest car race That car is just....completely awesome. I cant imagine how expensive it is to maintain though, just the tires lol. |
Re: Thirdgen in the world’s fastest car race That is one wicked Trans Am. There are a few threads posted here last year about the build up. |
Re: Thirdgen in the world’s fastest car race silver state classic, isnt that the event that old BIG RED 69 camaro used to win alot? i think it only had 880 hp. lol i'd love to see someone match that TA. probly some supra will win it, as they are so easy to make 1300hp or more. local guy that used to live here in pittsburgh area and since moved to arizona i believe now is sporting a 1300whp+ supra. used to have 1100 and ran mid high 9's on street tires at 150mph or so thru a stick shift. 200 more whp and its gonna be ridiculous |
Re: Thirdgen in the world’s fastest car race They have different classes based on the car's performance and safety requirements Current record holder in the unlimited class is a NASCAR built Chrysler LeBaron with an average speed of 207.7801 mph over the 90 mile course. The record has been held since May 2000. The car reached top speeds of over 220 mph. That means he traveled the 90 mile course in about 26 minutes. All the other classes, 180 mph, 170 mph, 160 mph etc are all based on time like a rally race. Your average speed at the finish needs to be as close as possible to you MPH class. You can exceed these speeds on the first part of the course to make up for the loss of speed through the twistys on the last part of the course. You can also exceed your class MPH at the finish. It's the closest to the class MPH on either side. 1 mph over beats 2 mph under the class mph. There are very few cars that run in the 160+ classes. |
Re: Thirdgen in the world’s fastest car race What about the Gale Banks red trans am. That thing is a crazy record holder. |
Re: Thirdgen in the world’s fastest car race He set Bonneville records, not road course records. |
Re: Thirdgen in the world’s fastest car race I knew there were some crazy records just not sure where. |
Re: Thirdgen in the world’s fastest car race That car is wicked  Thirdgens have run the race before, one of my hardtop TTA's(#884)ran it in the early 90's. It supposebly finished one year with a 156 or 159mph average and top speed in the mid 180's. BTW it was stock other than safetly equiptment, 36# injectors, and 2.77 gears. I wonder if the results from past races are posted somewhere. Steve |
