To Restomod or Restore to Original

1 Attachment(s)
Hi all, I am looking for some advise from the wise group at Third Gen in deciding whether to restomod or just restore my 89 Vert. While I want the extra power and drivability of an LS3 T56 combo I also understand that as an original 5 speed IROC convertible my care may be somewhat rare and so it would be a shame to not keep it original and numbers matching. Have attached a pic for your reference. Only mods to date are Spohn SFCs and wheels.

I would say restomod. Unless you plan on letting it sit in a garage hoping to someday sell it for a big windfall if the value jumps, the cars were meant to be driven IMO. Might as well give it the power it should have had and drive/enjoy the car for all its worth. Besides, you can always save all the original parts in storage should you want to return everything to stock to preserve any potential rarity. These cars are fun to drive with the anemic 305s they came with stock, and would be a complete blast with an LS series powerplant backed by a T56.

Restomod all the way. Numbers matching isn't a good enough reason to keep a pip squeak drivetrain in an awesome car!

Just build the car to your exact taste. Build it to do what you want it to do. The biggest thing that got me modding my car was the phrase "Who are you saving it for?".
