6.32@121.65 Well, I took the bird to the track to make some runs, and couldn't get the thing to hook. It was kind of what I was expecting on the first time out with it tho. This pass was done with the foot brake, as I was doing shakedown runs. 60' 1.694 330' 4.343 1/8 6.323 mph 121.65 Data log shows I was "peddling" it for 3.85 seconds. (between 58* and 100* throttle) I was running on a new set of M/T ET Drag Radials 30"x10", and the track wasn't hooking well, so I may have some better numbers to report in the near future. DonB Runs were made with a 400" SBC wit an X-Trim (saw 23# of boost at the top of second gear) |
nice runs, the mph is good for some 5.70's all day!!!! I finally put a real ehaust on mine :) I ran a true dual 3in with dynomax bullets.... I got a new best as well. I went a 6.12@117 with a1.478 60ft... I usually get in the 1.30's the track just was nit hooking at all.... Good times and cant wait to see it make the 5 sec pass.... |
High fives in the eighth will not be easy, but I'll keep working on it. It is geared for the 1/4 mile, on that run I never pulled it into third. |

3.73's Car has a 30" tire on it so it's cutting it back a little. |
It did look good. Its a shame the track was so bad. I was the one looking in your hood before you went in the water on your last pass :) |
biggtime, Make sure you stop by in the pits next time, helps to put a face with a name. There were a ton of people trying to figure out what was going on in that "peephole" in the hood LOL. Did you happen to see that last pass? The first couple were on motor, so they weren't as eventfull. That last pass was a handfull. I watched some video of it tonight, and it looked like a deisel, lots of black smoke! Data log was showing 11.5-1 to 12-1 air fuel, and was locked at 24* timing. There is more left in her that's for sure! Hope to meet you at the next Sat night street race, DonB |
Yes i did watch you. It looked like it went right up in smoke then you peddled it . Also sounded fat at the 330 on to me. What 02 are you using? did you check it against another? What computer? When i do my first tune I take it to Second street speed's dyno. I then log my O2 to his (motec lambada) and see the difference. Usually they are only off 1/2 point either way, but at least i know if mine is getting old. The 02 on the twin turbo truck I work on is off 1 point on his FAST one so if it says 12 its really 11. |
I too have SSSpeed tune my car. I am running the F.A.S.T ecu, with there wide band, but did not check it against the Motec at SS. (at the time I didn't have another bung in the collector). |
Wow you take your car to the track? ;) ;) Nice to see some results! Keep pluggin away. That blower should get you some 8 second slips easily in the 1/4 with the way you have that engine built. Keep us posted. :) |
Yeah, I take it to the track when it's together. Hey, you calling the kettle black? :p http://gallery.godragracing.com/gall...il7_2/IMG_3888 |
my car looks like a theft recovery right now. Cant race that! ;) Car looks good bro! Keep at it. :) Speaking of keeping at it, my old combo is about set for track time once again. ;) |
Hey, were you runnin at the Delmar track? I'd like to come and see that run some time if you are. |
Man, I've got to make it out sometime and see you run..., I'm only about an hour from Cecil... |
I run at Cecil, as it is only about a half hour drive with the trailer. 83, You are correct, I am running the 295/65 M/T radial. I will let you know the next time we head out to the track. DonB. |
What wheels are those (type, size/backspacing?) I like how the whole thing fits/sits… Yea, I know you run at cecil, and every time you mention it I have the same “I need to head out there one of these times and check that car out” thought… especially when I don’t have the time to build anything fast of my own (hell, have the turbo setup on an extra engine on an engine stand, moser 9” with a locker and 3.50 gears and all sorts of good stuff, all the FI stuff that I can think of needing, a half way converted vic jr… all piled up and waiting for when I have time to actually get them on the formula…). My inlaws live in rising sun, about 5-10 min from cecil and my father in law _used_ to be really into all sorts of automotive racing, so I keep threatening to drag him out there… |
Wheels are Bogart Force-5's 15x10 with 5.5 back spacing. The rear is narrowed 1.875" total from stock (15/16" on each side). The first Saturday of every month is when to be there, they have a street car shootout that is pretty wild. DonB. |

FWIW, feel free to email me when you’re going to be up there, unless you usually post somewhere and then I could check in wherever that is if I know where to look… |
83 Crossfire TA, I have noticed that the common answer to the question "what b/s for a 10 inch rim" has always been 5.5 inch. And a lot of people are running it like that. I feel with our cars, it needs a bit more to "fit" in the fender better, especially with the larger tire (28"+). I also like a little more depth in the front of the wheel, that is the reason I had narrowed it a bit, instead of more back spacing in the wheel. I did however have to remove a lot of material from the inner fender to get it to fit. If you do make it to the track, I will (time permitting) jack up the car and pull a tire to give you a better look. The car is evolving, I had set the car up last year with a lot of fancy parts, and it made good power. Only problem was these parts were not best suited for what I wanted to do. I was running a factory block, internals that would be stressed with the 900fwhp it was pushing, a Y/S-trim and Igloo I/C. All things considered it was a nice little combo, but in my honest oppinion was a ticking time bomb. This new combination is purpose built to run Extreme Street. I have stepped up the combo quite a bit, and am working with some talented people to get it right. I had hopes of competing in the series this year, but a late start to the season has put a damper on that. I am going to use this year to sort out the chasis, get my liscense, and get comfortable with the car. I will be running the local stuff, and hope to be at all the rest of the Street Car Shootouts at Cecil. DonB. |
1 Attachment(s) I run 28x10.5's on my car with weld prostars. zI have 5.5 backspacing on them and my tires fit with only modifying the metal down by the control arm. I just hit it in wiht a hammer. other than that i did not have to do anything. I have 2 friends with camaros that had to modify the inner fender lip to get the same tire to fit. I wonder if there is a slight diff int he 1/4 that causes this. here is a pic of the car |
Nice, 121 in the 1/8th is moving. I went 6.22 and almost 116mph on Saturday with my YSi. What is your raceweight? |
Raceweight is 3478 with driver. |
Nice. I was spinning about 10 ft on all my 1.49-1.51 passes, but I was the only guy running faster than 11's at the rental. Maybe you need a two-step? I have a friend who is setting up a car for NMRA Drag Radial and I know they do things like go to a 2.10 first gear in the trans etc. What does that 121mph equal, low 9's, 8's? I have no idea, this is the fastest I have ever gone. |

Runnin' good  Looks good also. Keep us posted on your progress. On marginal track conditions, I've contemplated launching my car in second gear just to see what happens, but haven't done it yet. |
