Knoxville Emissions?

I'm considering moving down to Knoxville, TN and was wondering if anyone could tell me what the emissions laws down there are? I did a quick Google search and found nothing relevant...

True but some Countys have a wheel tax and Knox County is one of them . Sevier County doesn't have a wheel tax and is close enough to Knoxville if that is where you are going to work .

Kind of old but I found this looking for info like the OP's question.

It is my understanding that there IS emission testing in a half dozen or so counties in TN.

I would like to know how tight the standards are. Could my basically stock 1989 GTA with headers and a hollowed out and straight piped CAT pass the test? If I do to many mods, would I fail?

I'd love to hear from someone who's lived there.

i live in Greene County, and i have never known of Tennessee having any emissions testing, but if the emissions laws are like the other laws in Tennessee, i would replace your hollowed cat with a high flow one.

P.S. you may pass emissions, but you would probably get a ticket if you don't have a muffler

Knox County, TN resident here: No emissions, no testing, no inspections... $64/yr is all you pay for registration... Doesn't get any better.
