Valencia Chevy and the seatbelt recall

Does anyone here in So Cal know whether Valencia Chevy will honor the seatbelt recall? Mine have chalky buttons and have trouble fastening, so I need to get them replaced pronto.

I already tried Rydell Chevy in Northridge, and their tech simply glanced at the computer and told me that it wasn't showing in their database. Since there are a lot of dealerships around here, I don't feel like bashing my head against one if there's a friendlier one around.

edit: Sorry, wrong forum, could somebody move this to the SoCal forum?

Only if your VIN number shows in the computer it will be honored.

I really didn't want to go head to head with clueless dealer concerning my seatbelt buckles either. I mean seriously, are they they really gonna care about a >12yr old car with faded buckles? It's hard enough trying to work with them on the warranties/recalls on much newer cars let alone a old 3rd gen. LOL! Anyways, they don't have them in black (the color I needed) anymore.

I just went to the local "pick-it-yourself" and got a pair of mint cond. buttons from a late model 3rd gen. Usually the back seat buttons on the hardtop cars can be found in nearly mint condition. A small J-shaped allen wrench easily pops them off. You can also grab the plastic release sliders that are inside the junkyard buckles too.

When you snap the new buttons on, just make sure you have the small release spring that's inside the buckle properly aligned on the metal release tab that locks the belt latch in before you snap the new buttons on. The spring is what releases the belt from the buckle when you press the button to unlatch the belts.
