New ZR1's and 275, Tramlining Issues!!
 

I knew that this new setup would expose new weaknesses in the suspension, but after taking the Z for an hour long highway drive today, I can honestly say that the car tramlines like a MOFO! Bay area freeways are horrible to say the least, but I had to reel the car in with two hands at times.

The car would tramline before this, but not as bad. I know the wider tires only exaggerate the situation. I performed a quick visual of the suspension, everything was nice and tight, but thats just a visual. Anyone have/fix their tramlining woes? Any specific parts that contribute to the situation? Are all the suspension components worn out after 70k? I am leaning towards control arm bushings as the major contributer. :hmmm:

Heres the setup:
Stock: 70,000 mi: Ball joints, tie rods, idler arm, springs, control arm bushings
New: Wheel bearings, sway bar links/bushings, Koni Yellows

The biggest change I've found improvement with is the lower control arm bushings. I'd do those first if the steering box, rag joint, and steering linkage are not worn out. What you use, your choice. Lot of poly haters but the reduced deflection will help with your problem.

What are your alignment specs? If you are considering A-arm bushings go for the global west bushings if you can afford it.

This is the one application where I think poly will suffice. Rubber is out of the question. The car is a daily driver, but will see OT days.

Do the advantages of the del a lum really outweigh the cost? I looked over at jegs and they were $180 (I'm a broke college student)!! OUCH! If you know where I can find them for cheaper, I will consider them. For now I think the $30 set of poly bushings will do fine.:burnout:
