>>>> 15's on a 3rd. Gen. okay? <<<<< Anyone running 15's on thier 3rd. gen? Will she sit too low and look stupid? I have a great set of Cragars (15 x 8) with BF.Goodrich (225/60/r15) just sitting on my regal in the garage that is going nowhere anytime soon... So anyone running 15's or seen it done???? Or should I leave them on the Regal to collect dust? Thanks for any input! Oh ya I got a 91'bird........ |
Re: >>>> 15's on a 3rd. Gen. okay? <<<<< most of theese cars came stock with 15's, and the rim size doesn't affect ride height, think about it |
Re: >>>> 15's on a 3rd. Gen. okay? <<<<< Doesn't the rim size affect the size tires you can plug on theese babies hence the suggestion of ride hight..... I got stock 16's on the bird now and scrape a little going up/down my drive........ |
Re: >>>> 15's on a 3rd. Gen. okay? <<<<< 15's with the 225/60 tires won't be a problem with stock brakes. I have 15x8 wheels on my '83 Z28 and I have 235/60 on the fronts and 245/60 on the back. Car has some ground clearance ( atleast 5-6" maybe more) and nothing rubs. Plus, the tires are about flush with the fenders, so it gives the car a more more aggressive look, IMO. |
Re: >>>> 15's on a 3rd. Gen. okay? <<<<< leave them off. |
Re: >>>> 15's on a 3rd. Gen. okay? <<<<< Totally 100% okay, and 100% will fit! |
Re: >>>> 15's on a 3rd. Gen. okay? <<<<< back in 82 the stock 3rd gen wheel was a 14" with a p19575r14 tire - next came the 15" on the z's-T/a with a p21565r15 then 16's with p24550/16 all these tire share is pretty much the same O/D within 1/4" they just get wider now a 2754017 on 4th gen and early firehawks- guiess what- yep same O/D as all the others. 20 years selling tires and service - now your 2256015 are a little shorter but not by much - will run fine on your car |
Re: >>>> 15's on a 3rd. Gen. okay? <<<<< Thank you for all the input gentleman.... Hopefully "the bird" doesn't rub her nose on my drive! |

Re: >>>> 15's on a 3rd. Gen. okay? <<<<< I love the 15" stock rims on my T/A, only reason im going to get the 16"'s is because the choices are so much more limited in tires for 15's |
Re: >>>> 15's on a 3rd. Gen. okay? <<<<< yea 3rd gens dont need big wheels, big wheels on old cars dont look right i do hate how its hard to get alot of choices in tires for 15's:gocrazy:....o well go to wally world and get em, they be slicked off in no time :lmao: |
Re: >>>> 15's on a 3rd. Gen. okay? <<<<< Yeah, I mean, I have 17" inch rims with 245/45's and thats (without stepping on any toes) the biggest wheels that should go on 3rd gens. Its all about finding a healthy combination of tire size and ride height because nothing looks worse than a tire thats too skinny or short to fill up the wheel wells. I think of 15" rims as being kinda old school and theres nothing wrong with that because with every passing year third gens become, well, more old school. But please, no white letter rubber. |
Re: >>>> 15's on a 3rd. Gen. okay? <<<<< I got the "white letter rubber" BF GOODRICH..... Love'em>>> FINALLY got pics uploaded in my album |
