Do I need subframe connectors?

I'm planning to keep my '89 Camaro for a long time, so I was wondering if it is necessary to install subrame connectors. Will the chassis get weaker (if it isn't already)? I baby the car, I don't do a lot of hard cornering, do I really need them?

Yes you need SFC's if you own a 3rd or 4th Gen F-body. It is even more necessary if your car is a t-top or convertible, which further compromises the chassis. Jack up your car and you will see why. There is a front sub-frame that carries the engine and transmission and a rear sub-frame that carries the rear end. In between is nothing but the formed sheet metal of the floor pan and the roof. The car should have a full chassis connecting the two. If you need further reasons to justify it let me know. I can fill a page. The cost is between $160 and $250 plus installation. It cost $50 to have mine installed. This is the first mod I recommend for anyone with a 3rd gen car. Good luck, Lon.
