would bad ball joints cause this problem? When I accelerate hard or take a turn (hard or soft) my car randomly makes a horrible "creeking" noise. To me it sounds like the noise is coming from a part in a rotating assembly because the creaking will oscillate for a few yards. I thought it was the diff, I changed all fluids. I thought it was bushings, I replaced all w/ ployeurithane. I thought it might be LCA's or panhard rod, so I beefed up both, nothing. I'm running out of ideas. I recently saw a post on ball joints, and I hadn't thought of that, so I thought I'd ask. Also, I checked the brakes and things look good. The noise isn't a squeel so much as a groan/creek. Any help would be appriciated. Thanks, Andrew |
Could be. When my lower ball joint failed I got a groaning soundwhen I did sharp low speed turns. You can check them by jacking up the front of the car and sticking a crow bar under the wheel and leavering it. Another cause could be low fluid in your steering pump. ------------------ Cosmik Debris |
Opps, I forgot to mention one thing. I don't think the sound is coming from the front. As a matter of fact, I'm sure its coming from the rear. What's back there that could be making that noise?? |
Axle bearings. There are no ball joints in the rear. ------------------ 350 Vortec, forged flat-tops, CompCams XE268, Edlebrock RPM, Holley 3310, TH350 w/Holeshot 2400, 3.23 posi, Heddman shorties, HEI |
Check your trailing arm bushings, exhaust mounts, and shock mounts. |
