Want to lower my iroc...
 

Hey guys, I want to throw sport line sprongs in my IROC. I've been told I'll need lower control arm relocation brackets.. Is this all I need? Someone else said I may need an adjustable tourqe arm.. I'm trying not to spend too
Much money, so if I truly don't need extra parts, I won't get them.

Lowered by 92 Z28 with a set of sportlines. It is not required to have those extra items for install, but they are a suggested add on. The LCARBs are needed to correct the angle of the lower control arms and the adjustable panhard bar will allow you to re-center the rear end. These things are not necessary for installation, but are a good upgrade. Your car will drive just fine without them if you're looking for the lowered look. Mine does anyway. I plan to install them later.

The adjustable panhard bar is for rear end centering after vehicle lowering, as well as clearance for running larger tires.

The adjustable torque arm is designed to eliminate wheel hop under hard accelerationon and adjustability of the pinion angle.

Adjustable control arms can be adjusted longer or shorter moving the rear end back or forward to squeeze larger tires in the fender wells. Adjustable control arms are also recommended for most aftermarket rear end installs to center the rear end and prevent tire rubbing.

Thanks for the info guys.. The car is just a cruiser, so im not worried about wheel hop. I just want to lower it down, but don't want to sacrafice the ride or drive ability.

I have all those parts on my lowered Iroc.

While I do agree they're not necessary.....ehhhh....they do make a pretty significant difference. Some are more for performance, some are more to correct suspension geometry. I did the torque arm and panhard bar when I lowered. Already had the LCA relocation brackets. My LCA's are adjustable, but I currently have them at stock length. My car doesn't budge when I hit an off ramp at 75 mph, and it hooks like it's on slick when I dump the clutch. It's certainly not NECESSARY, but why would you NOT want that? ...and if you can't do it all right away, do it in pieces. No harm there.

EDIT ..chances are your pinion angle won't change much, but it needs to be in spec. At the very least you need to check it. That WILL cause problems if it's out. ...and then an adjustable torque arm is needed.

One more question... I just had the car aligned a couple months ago... Is an alignment nessassary after lowering?
