1986 trans am finally lowered hey guys. its been awhile since i have posted anything on here i have been pretty busy with school and work. i finally got around to slightly lowering the trans am. she now sits on eibach pro springs and koni yellows. the car handles so much better and feels so much more connected to the road. i also added a spohn steering brace, spohn adjustable panhard bar, and upgraded the upper strut mounts to j&m.let me know what you think. also i am looking for wheel and tire ideas for the car so suggestions are appreciated :)https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.thi...9e6ba0defc.jpg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.thi...769ee0d51b.jpg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.thi...13f6f928f4.jpg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.thi...50543345dc.jpg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.thi...fc2eb97b1c.jpg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.thi...93c78d3de3.jpg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.thi...bec7b4a79b.jpg |
Re: 1986 trans am finally lowered Looking good! |
Re: 1986 trans am finally lowered I've got the pro kit on my Iroc, and I love it. Little lower, LOT better handling. ...I know most will disagree, but I think you should leave the wheels! i love it old school. Back in the day, EVERYONE had stock wheels, and one or two guys got aftermarket wheel and it was awesome! ....but now everyone has 'em. I realize they're just 16" wheels, but unless you need every last bit of that bigger tire...I say leave em! |
Re: 1986 trans am finally lowered I'm going to suggest you look into CTW Motorsports wheels, which come in silver, which would look great with your two-toned finish. You will be able to mount a 275-40-17 tire, which will allow you to take advantage of all the suspension goodies you have. http://www.ctw-motorsports.com |
Re: 1986 trans am finally lowered Looks great! Have you had it aligned? Did they run into Bump steer issues? |

Keep the stock "old school" wheels! :imo: https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.thi...2b4b9904a5.jpg |
Re: 1986 trans am finally lowered Wow that is a sweet ride. |
Re: 1986 trans am finally lowered pretty nice my friend |
Re: 1986 trans am finally lowered I like it! That is so true about keeping the stock wheels due to the fact that no one has them. Our cars are becoming rare in stock form. I like the Weld RT-S S71's for a light weight aftermarket option. |
Re: 1986 trans am finally lowered Southtown, I fish over there! |
Re: 1986 trans am finally lowered hey thank you guys for all the compliments, i have been busy so haven't had time to reply. I do love the stock rims but im looking to get something a bit bigger and wider. i really like the year one cast snowflake rims but im having a hard time trying to figure out if they will fit without spacers. they changed the specs they are now 17x9 with a 5.125 backspacing. they use to have a smaller backspacing. does anyone know if they will fit my car without spacers or any modifications. any help would be appreciated, also what tire size would be recommended. |
