Ground Control Suspension I recently watched the video by LSXMatt where he bought the rear portion of the ground control weight jack set up from another member who only needed the fronts. I spoke to ground control and they absolutely refuse to sell only the front or rears. I already have a coilover set up on the front and want to get the rear weight jacks. Would anyone have any interest in buying the fronts if I bought the kit? Thanks, Chris |
Re: Ground Control Suspension If you don't have to absolutely have Ground Control rear weight jacks, you could use Allstar Performance spring spacer for the rear: https://pitstopusa.com/i-5066715-all...uster-nut.html and just get the right spring for them: https://pitstopusa.com/c-131813-chas...cle-track.html |

Those are for the front. UMI does make them for the rear but they are much more expensive. Why? I dunno. |
Re: Ground Control Suspension Thanks for the responses, guys! I may end up going with ground control and posting the fronts for sale. Not sure yet. |

Re: Ground Control Suspension All I'm seeing for the rear is coil overs, which are definitely more expensive. |
Re: Ground Control Suspension UMI has not released there rear weight jacks yet |

Re: Ground Control Suspension Yes umi will have rear weight jacks out for sale anytime now and the adjuster will be on the top kind of like there front kit. |
Re: Ground Control Suspension I saw the rear kit at the UMI Open House 2 weeks ago. It is close to becoming available with it currently being tested on their shop 4th gen at the track and the shop 3rd gen for fitment and less strenuous driving. No idea on what their pricing will be when they hit the market but probably similar to the front kit since the design is very similar. We might have a pre-release set on our GTA for testing at LSFest depending on timing and availability between now and then. |

To be clear, is the design like the front set of weight jacks UMI makes or the rear set that ground control makes? |
Re: Ground Control Suspension Generally speaking, I'm a big fan of UMI, and have most of their 82-92 catalog under my car. That being said, I've had the Ground Control weight jacks for a few years now and have been really impressed. Easy adjustment, nice ride, and quality looking ano and powdercoat. https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.thi...60895ecfda.jpg |
Re: Ground Control Suspension I can't really fault the Ground Control units and how well they survived 6 years of the beating we laid on them. But at that point they had to be replaced. We had beaten them to a pulp and the fronts had developed some scary bends to the upper spring plates. Most people will likely never punish their suspension the way we do though with thousands of track and autocross laps every year. I wouldn't hesitate to use Ground Control again on a cruiser or something that only saw the track a couple times a year though. To go back to them now on the track warriors would require a maintenance plan to replace them every few years with a new set with is difficult to do since GC won't sell fronts and rears separately. |
