New Parts Coming Soon From Founders Performance

We have been working hard on some new parts for the 3rd and 4th gen F-Body cars. Here's something that will be ready to ship in the next couple weeks.

I take it that these will be powder coated? Red?

Re: New Parts Coming Soon From Founders Performance

So what will keep this from moving? Just the bolt being tight?

FoundersPerf 10-18-2018 12:30 PM

Re: New Parts Coming Soon From Founders Performance

They will be available in red or black powder coat.

Yes they won't move once the bolt is tight. We have been doing parts like this for many years without any issues.

^Nice. I was wondering what the rod end was for?

There will probably be some type of clamping mechanism on the rear end that will also have a rod end and a tube will attach them together.

EDIT: I'll be interested in the price point.

It will connect to a adjustable length rod that connects to a clamp on the axle tube.

When do you hope to release them for sale?

OK, I'll be the idiot who asks; what does this do? I installed the Founders pan hard relocation kit and adjustable pan hard rod this year to get exhaust clearance and center the axle. How are these slots any more functional than my adjustable rod?

They did. This is a thread by, and for the Founder's product.

check out my build thread at post 724 where I talked about it and fixed mine. Might clear it up for you.

Thanks Tibo, that answers it well! I have wider wheels and that's why I bought the adjustable rod, so I may need this when I lower the suspension later. Makes a lot of sense.

look at RobGuitarGod build thread also towards the end. He has wider wheels than me and he was able to easily offset his for more room.

What is the Heim joint hanging in that hole for?

Looks like they are going to tie the bottom of the brace back to the axle tube to help prevent it from moving under load, since leverage is at work the farther it is from the mounting point

Ahhh...so I guess this will be a complete kit, 2 brackets a bracket support bar and a fixed panhard bar support(that upper bar in the first pic)

They should be available for the stock rear end in the next 2-3 weeks depending on the turn around time of the powder coat company. We are hoping to keep the price point down around the $220.00 for the complete kit.

Some quick photos of what the rod ends do. It is a adjustable support rod that attaches the axle support bracket to the bottom of the drivers side relocation bracket.

Interesting seems umi thought you needed more definite mounting and not a slot as I first assumed. Good to have products that are different!

Funny you say that, it appears they felt slots are just fine on the watts link they are making. Circle track guys have been using slots in the upper and lower control brackets for years without problems.

Says who?
BTW, I'm a former NASCAR crew chief

Just merely trying to tighten the bolt into position it will start to walk once its been tightened a few times a few mm's up or down. We do not use adjusters like this.

Also, just weld the thing in place. Spending 3x as much to clamp something and add all that unsprung weight is ridiculous.

FoundersPerf 11-05-2018 03:21 PM

Re: New Parts Coming Soon From Founders Performance

Parts with sliding links are used all the time in circle track use. They may not be used in NASCAR per say, but that's not what I said. I can see something moving while it's ben tightened if it was in single shear but that's not the case in here. We have successfully used slots in double shear on other parts for many years without any problems and will continue to do so.

We would love to sell weld-in kits, but that would really limit the market on a part like this. Most car enthusiasts don't have the ability to easily weld parts onto a car. When we design something it needs to be something for the masses with a straight forward installation. Regardless, if we didn't include the axle tube clamp and support tube you will still need to add a support tube that runs from the bottom of the drivers bracket over to the axle tube and weld it in place to eliminate the flex you will be inducing into the stock bracket.

Re: New Parts Coming Soon From Founders Performance

Your design will flex.

You have poor experience levels with this product. Bold statement that it "needs" a brace.

I have installed axle side panhard extensions both Jegs and custom home made units for years and have never used a brace...and I guarantee I drive these cars far harder then you will ever experience.

The average person can drive their car to the local muffler shop and easily have this welded on in an hour or less at a cheaper cost then your magic brace.

Every single part I have bought from founders I have never had a problem with the design so I think they know how to make the parts. theres always that one guy in the bunch that can do it better lol

This is probably the only guy who can ACTUALLY say whether the design is worthy or not, you must be new here LOL

FoundersPerf 11-07-2018 12:38 PM

Re: New Parts Coming Soon From Founders Performance

We have several design criteria, one of them is it must be a bolt-in kit along with another very large criteria is making sure the part is built well enough to handle minor incidents such as accidental curb shots, etc. As a bolt-in kit you must have bracing for the bracket especially when the panhard rod is toward the bottom section of the slot.

My suggestion is if you don't like the support bracket you have the option of not installing it and welding the piece in. Once you eliminate parts from our designed kit our product liability stops.

Thank you, And the skills to put it to the test. Some parts should be welded and nothing else. I will say strongly I would NEVER run a panhard bracket just bolted in.

kaos420- I post credentials for a reason. Look in the mirror for "that guy". You may not know my name nor is it publicly famous, but I am well known in the racing industry behind the scenes. https://www.thirdgen.org/g/album/3034965

Here I am half way around the world in the famous Nurburgring karussell. I even built a panhard brace from scratch in Istanbul and found a shop to let me borrow their welder for a 502 Rmjet Trans Am I helped build and took to Intercity F1 track at 160mph down the back straight. I kind of have a thing or two on my resume.
