200K mile 3rd gen time slip

This is all 1/8 mile track...
react--.743
60 ft--2.365
594 ft--5.595
1/8 ET--10.252
1/8 mph--68.58
I dont know if this is good for a stock L03 but it is what I have run last weekend in my 92RS,L03,5-SP,TBI with 200+k miles on it..all I have done is a cowl hood,no smog, open element- K&N,gutted cat and thats about it..
Now I say all that to say That I'm working on the TBI mods listed here and see if there is a diff that I can tell..

yt91rs 05-09-2006 10:00 PM

my 91RS 305TBI 160,000+ miles

i have a 91rs tbi305 and ran a
R/T ......... .209
60 ......... 2.363
330 ........ 6.683
1/8 ........ 10.284
MPH ....... 68.10
1000 ...... 13.403
1/4 ........ 16.048
MPH ....... 84.93

with a 4.11 rear end, stock everything, and not brake torquing i didn't know to but now i have been educated in how to race.

dwillis 05-09-2006 10:34 PM

dude that would be a close race!myrear is stock peg leg 3.08.But the t-5 makes up for it...thats cool

DanTheMan18 05-10-2006 12:10 AM

My best slip to date with a 92 RS with a t-5, centerforce stage 1 clutch, gutted cat, and Flowmaster muffler.

R/T ......... .510 (I was more worried about launching than reaction)
60 ......... 2.327
330 ........ 6.606
1/8 ........ 10.142
MPH ....... 69.50
1000 ...... 13.190
1/4 ........ 15.777
MPH ....... 87.20

I'd say your times are quite nice, considering the mileage. Mine's coming up on 120K or so.

I hope on throwing some gears in, and getting a new differential so I could get off the line a little bit better. Gotta love the one wheel peel.

Dyno Don 05-10-2006 11:20 AM

My '92 RS L03 had 235K
Changed to TPI & LT1 cam ...14.94...93.50 ..1.98 60'
W/T-5 3.42's

DanTheMan18 05-10-2006 01:22 PM

Nice. How much of a difference did the cam make for you? I was considering doing that after reading the thread on here about it.

yt91rs 05-10-2006 10:27 PM

Unfortunately i have broke 3 rear ends this friday i hope to put in the fourth the 2.73 Limited slip last 1 mnth, the 4.11 last about 10mnths, and the 3.23 last about 4 mnths, with the 2.73 i was a sec slower then the 4.11 the run i would have hit a 15 with that i spun from 1st - 3rd gear at bristol and passed the tree when i hit third but still ran a 16.2

4.11? Seems like a bit of overkill for a stock TBI car, eh?

went back this weekend and improved a little..I advanced my timing a little.I only got to run once cause a car flipped and caught fire so I went ahead and left since it was going to take a while to cleanup..I'm car 108

I think everyone knows what i have.. 350 tbi, 30,000miles on it so far... Bowtie overdrives 700r4 L1 not even 2,000 miles on that.. and 2:73's in the rear... I cant hook up, i have 65 series tires... my best time was 9.92secs on the 1/8.. if you need proof, I will post up a few of my slips..

Other than the 14" open air element and raising injector pod 1/2'', Its 100% stock, timing is stock.. has stock cat.. Ect... ect..

dwillis 05-17-2006 09:06 PM

Dude you need a lower gear..You should be smoking the 8th mile times that we have posted with stock 305's...and mines even a five speed....thats a nice highway gear and a good time for that gear but if you had even a 3:08 like mine it'd roll...

well, right now im trying to get my restricted exhaust, not so restrictive..

and what would happen to my MPG if i changed to a 3:08 rear gear? Would it make A huge diffrence? And, as of now if i am on the gas a bit, when the tranny shifts, the tires will chirp.. so what would happen to that? would it get worse? or would it calm it down? Thanks, Nick Hall

I went from 3.08s to 3.73s in my Van, night and day difference. The city mileage actually came up a couple of MPG due to not having to push the gas as hard out of lights. The highway mileage suffered by about 3 MPG, dropped from 23 to 20.

83Chevy_Camaro 05-18-2006 06:35 PM

So, 3:43's is about the middle of 3.08 and 3.73.. so would that be a better gear?

Tobias05 05-18-2006 07:23 PM

you could consider 3.42's the "happy median" for performance, cruise, and fuel economy...

dwillis 05-18-2006 10:17 PM

I'm looking for a rear with 3:42'S in it now for myself...I do think that would be a happy median......I also think thr V-6 cars come with 3:42 gears in them...
----------
I'm prob going back to track tom night.Maby there won't be another accident and I can run more than once...

The Chevy Blazer/GMC Jimmy 4x4s with the 2.8 mostly came with posi 3.73s too. They use the same little 10 bolt posi, carrier, ring, and pinon, that alot of F-bodies have, just that most were factory posi and 3.73s.

83Chevy_Camaro 05-20-2006 06:09 PM

so 3.73's are the way to go?

cheppibear 05-21-2006 08:49 AM

I use the BFG drag radials. Power brake them in the water box (not too long).

I had the 275s on the back and with my 3.23s and was running consistent low 1.90s in the 60 Ft.

18-19 PSI in both rear tires worked best. Just air back up on the way home!

Would help your overall time by at least 1/2 second.
