Fuel Lines

Hello all..

To make a long question short, are there any coupler fittings that connect Metric to AN?

I am needing to connect my TBI fuel lines to my Holley fuel pressure regulator. The TBI feed line is 16mm and return line is 14mm. The fittings on the regulator are AN -6. I've checked Earl's and others from Summit and Jegs. All help is appreciated.

If I were to use conversion charts, would that work? Like, 3/8 x 5/8 and 3/8 x 9/16? If these coupler fittings are used with Teflon tape, would this work?

1. What's wrong with the existing regulator that doesn't need heroic plumbing to fit properly?

2. Thread tape has NO place anywhere near a fuel or oil system. Teflon-based thread paste, maybe.

3. Don't screw metric threads into somewhere they don't belong.

4. I expect the regulator is pipe-threaded not "AN".

5. "AN" fittings are so rare as to be pretty-much military/aviation-only. If you've got 37-degree taper fittings, they're almost certainly JIC not AN. This doesn't mean much except that JIC is a lower standard than the military-grade AN.

This is TBI converted to Carb. I purchased a Holley fuel pressure regulator with return, and it has AN -6 fittings. I am trying to connect the current TBI lines to the AN-6 but cannot find the proper coupling fittings and thought that maybe you all could help.

Post a link to the regulator. I still say it's unlikely that it has AN fittings AT ALL*, and the regulator itself is probably pipe-threaded. Therefore, all you need is the adapters for pipe-thread-to-GM fuel tube; and I bet you have a pair of them already screwed-into the throttle body. Perhaps you'll need bushings to adapt smaller pipe thread to a larger pipe thread. That will be determined by the size of the male pipe thread adapters from the throttle body, and the size of the female pipe thread of the regulator.

*...because not all 37 degree flare fittings meet AN standards. The fittings packaged with the pump almost certainly DO NOT meet "AN" standards, although there's a good chance that they meet JIC standards.

Here are the fittings you need, all four have a male -6 fitting:

AN to Saginaw:

9894DBH Female 14mm x 1.5" to -6: Fuel Injection Female "O" Ring Seal
9894DBJ Female 16mm x 1.5" to -6: Fuel Injection Female "O" Ring Seal
991954 14mm x 1.50" to -6: Fuel Injection - "O" Ring Seal
991955 16mm x 1.50" to -6: Fuel Injection - "O" Ring Seal

The first two would be used to connect to the hardlines at the frame rail.

The last two would be used to connect to the rubber lines that go from the frame rail to the engine.

Pick the two to use based on where you are connecting to the fuel system.

RBob.

Re: Fuel Lines

Thanks guys. I went ahead and took it to a hydraulic line shop and got the correct ends pressed onto my lines to accept the AN -6 fittings. And the FPR i'm using is the Holley 12-803bp for fuel systems with a return line. The ports are 3/8 NPT and it came with 3 3/8 NPT to AN -6 fittings. That's why I needed fittings to convert. But thanks again!

For the future I was able to get the type of fitting you were looking for from Jegs when I adapted an oil cooler onto my Ducati.
