White smoke from TBI? Hey TGO, I tried starting my parts car w/ potential and she ran REALLY REALLY rough. As I backed it in the driveway it cutoff like someone pulled the plug. I jump started it again, it ran like crap again for about 45 sec or so and I happened to notice some white smoke came up from the TBI, almost like an thin mushroom cloud as it died. I know the car has sat un-started for some time but when checking the Oil it didn't look like sludge or milky. When checking coolant it was as green as any other 50/50 coolant, When the weather breaks i'm going to pull plugs, check wires, cap & rotor button, etc but in the mean time I was looking for any of your experiences starting cars that have sat 6mo + Now that I typed this up, it's almost like the plugs aren't burning off the fuel being supplied... Any direction or input would be appreciated, Thanks. |
Re: White smoke from TBI? Although it's still freezing out here in ohio, I did do another quick once over and realized the following was disconnected... - Vacuum Line to Coolant Bypass Valve - IAT Sensor Reconnected IAT Sensor & Vac Line & Changed the Blown 20A ECM/FP Fuse. Battery is indoors on charge, will report back when it's above 40 degrees. |
Re: White smoke from TBI? Update: Matter Resolved Couldn't wait until a 40+ degree day so a bit ago I grabbed the battery off the charger and hooked it up. Tried to start, 1st two times were rough but it started, ran a bit smoother and NO MORE White smoke from the TBI. I now conclude the disconnected Vac line and IAT being disconnected & overlooked on my part was causing a quite critical rich condition, etc, etc. |
Re: White smoke from TBI? Could be bad gas too. It really doesn't have a long shelf-life. :D |
