Has anyone ever used Mr. Gasket complete rebuild set? The p/n in Jegs is 720-7148. It's $50 for the complete set, including head gaskets. I was just wondering if this is a quality set and if the head gaskets are any good. If not, are there any other suggestions for a set that is reasonably priced? I have also seen the Summit brand sets for $30. |
buy a fel-pro set and a one piece oil pan gasket. there's lots of ways to save money but being cheap on gaskets isn't one of them |
Yeah, I know what you're saying; so what's a fair price to pay for a good quality set? I was also looking at a Trick-Flow set. |
usually i figure 125 dollars for a gasket set, buy fel-pro there's nothing better, maybe as good, but not better. |
Thanks. :D If I get the kit that comes with header gaskets, would you recommend getting aluminum ones, or are the ones that come with the Felpro kits pretty good? It says they are high temp, high density fiber around a perforated steel core, if that tells you what I'm talking about. |
look for felpro part number KS2600 . that is a complete gasket set for a 2 piece rear main small block chevy....then all you may have to do is buy the one piece oil pan and rear main....this set is $36 at summit |
I agree... I would go with Felpro they are the best IMO. Ive had problems with Mrgaskets before mostly header gaskets though. Ive used the Felpro 1404 header gaskets and they have worked good for me. The Mrgasket would blow the paper/fiber material out and leave the metal inner material and leak. I think the Felpro paper/fiber outer material is more durable to hot exhaust gas(leaks) then others of the same type gasket. |
