Roller Rockers...
 

Ok I'm Going to be putting new valve seals in...would it be worth the time and $100 bucks to put Roller rockers in? I dont Know jack about heads. As far as specs and such, I'm learning though....would it be a waste of time on these old heads or what? I dont have the specs on my cam , but I can tell Ya it is very very radical.
I'm currently building a 400ci combo, for later, wich for sure I will be adding aftermarket heads...it will be more strip than street...heck if I thought I could put a set (Of heads) on the 327 that would work with the 400, I would. Seems the compression ratio would be to low for the 327.

Any thoughts or suggestions greatly apreciated.....

if your asking whether or not to get roller rockers i would say definitely get them. frees up a lot of friction in the valvetrain and will add some solid hp. we're not talking 50+ hp here but a lot less stress on the valvetrain and a decent amount of hp. go for them!

You are going to replace the 327 with the 400? Don't bother with RR's for the 327 then, unless you have some money to burn. If it were me...I'd save up my pennies and get a set of the Crower stainless RR's for the 400 set up.

I just didnt know if it was something I'd notice much . My 400 is about a year from being completed. I dont have "alot" of money. but as far as mods go I consider $100 fairly cheap...I (and my wife) will be running this set-up 327 Actually 336ci..all summer and most likely much of next year. So I guess My Question is would I get any bang for my buck? I plan on putting the 327 in an s-10 when I have the 400ci/th400 complete.

I would go ahead and get them. I would look into getting a set of Hartland Sharp 1.6 ratio rockers, these made a 17 hp difference at the flywheel on my flat top 355 with a .480 lift cam.:lala:

Well, if you are going to keep the 327 and transplant it without a rebuild then RR's would be worth it, or at least roller tip rockers, some of the benifits of a RR but will last longer.

As long as you are going to be maintaining the same rocker ratio they will transfer with no problem. I have been running the Harland Sharp's and love them. They also come with poly locks.

You aren't talking about $100 bucks here. Full rollers (not Proforms, please) will run at least twice that.

You can get Elgin roller tip rockers for less than $100. Comp Magnums slightly more than that. Both have the benefit of reduced side-load on the valve stems, both better quality than factory stamped steel. The Comps are slight better since they're not stamped.

Harland Sharp 1.5 ratio =$180 or 1.6 ratio=$198 from Summit. They are full roller and as stated above they come with poly locks. Well worth the cost.

I think I'll just go with the seals for now, I have to get the 400 crank to the machine shop and make sure it's gonna be ok. It has a couple of rough spots on it, I m sure it will need some work. I'll save the rollers for that motor......wish I was rich $$$$$$$$$$$
