How hard is it do do motor mounts?

I want my mechanic to do my rear main seal... since the engine has to be up anyway, can he do the motor mounts while he's there? I've ripped my y-pipe in half so many times now it's not funny... the engine twists too much and jostles around, ripping it where they come together...

Also, since the engine is up, will it be easier to put headers on?

How many hours do you think this should take? The whole 9 (rear main, headers, and motor mounts)...

Thanks.

If you have the headers definetly do that while the motor is out of the car. It will be much easier. Im pretty sure motor mounts arent bad. They are just held in by a few bolts i think. Wait for a better answer about the motor mounts since im not sure but definetly do headers while the motor is out. And are you sure its the rear main and maybe not a intake? A guy my dads knows came to check out my oil leak and tried to tell me it was a rear main. It was the intake which i fixed. Thats why i dont trust machanics he tried to stick it to me.

motor mounts? really easy. just jack up the car so you can fit under it, then loosen up the bolt that connects the two halfs of each mount. pull the bolts, then jack up the engine. i'm assuming you've already done some prep things, like disconnecting the exhaust from the manifold, and removing the distibutor (for space reasons). when you do jack up the motor, just jack it enough so you can get enought room to take out the mounts.

that should do it.... that easy.

motor mounts are not "easy" you may need to drop the a-arm to get to the nuts inside the x-member. I used swivels and extensions and some sticky stuff in the socket. Mounts are a pain, no way around it. I say 4-6hrs for Motor mounts alone. But I'm no pro.:)
