A LS1 head and the engine it comes from are a different design than a 1976 350.

It will not bolt on.

A stock 1976 350 motor has very low compression and poor large chamber 76cc heads.

Any head with a smaller combustion chamber will raise compression and help wake it up.
Especially with a mild cam swap.

A good head to wake up your low compression 1976 350
is a ported big valved 58cc 305 head if you're on a tight budget.
A L-98 cast 350 TPI with some porting and some milling to 58cc's
A set of 1996-2000 350 L-31 vortec heads. (062 or ,906)

A late Camel Back head with bolt accessory bolt holes.

Like a 041,040 or 414 or 492 or 186 casting

Don't skimp on the heads. Try to find some used vortechs or iron eagles. They will make much more power than the 305 heads.

Yes 416's are good when worked a little (ported and bigger valves).
