Re: heads Originally posted by japetto32 i know this is way of the carburetor subject but is the LS1 suffix #306 a good head for my 1976 chevy 350? trying to get 350 horsepower.thanks It will not bolt on. A stock 1976 350 motor has very low compression and poor large chamber 76cc heads. Any head with a smaller combustion chamber will raise compression and help wake it up. Especially with a mild cam swap. A good head to wake up your low compression 1976 350 is a ported big valved 58cc 305 head if you're on a tight budget. A L-98 cast 350 TPI with some porting and some milling to 58cc's A set of 1996-2000 350 L-31 vortec heads. (062 or ,906) A late Camel Back head with bolt accessory bolt holes. Like a 041,040 or 414 or 492 or 186 casting |
Re: Re: heads i found some 305 heads .14014416...80-86...305..........1.84"/1.5" valves, 58cc chambers these have a smaller chambers woukd this be a good choice for the budget minded? thanks |
Don't skimp on the heads. Try to find some used vortechs or iron eagles. They will make much more power than the 305 heads. |
Yes 416's are good when worked a little (ported and bigger valves). |
