This belt on my car is about to break. Just wondering, This is the air conditioning belt, right??? If it is, Is it going to affect anything else??? (Is it absolutely nesessary to replace it right away?)

yes that's the AC belt, does it drive anything else, like the PS? if it's AC only you wouldn't have to replace it, but i think i would.

It's a 305 v8, I don't think it drive's anything else, I'll have to check!!! I'll let you know as soon as I find out!

Replace or remove it before it breaks. If it breaks it could get caught up and whip around destroying things...like the upper radiator hose and that would be bad while driving it.

It should be the same as my Z28.

If it is, then you can take it off with no problems. It only runs the AC, even though it might run over the water pump as well. There is a separate belt to run the alt/water pump, and another for the power steering, so they won't be affected by removing the AC belt.

Agreed.

Just cut it off for now if you don't want to replace it. Since it's the rear-most belt, others have to be removed in order to replace it. But, with a good sharp knife...

Wouldn't it be a good idea to unplug the electrical connections to the AC. If you remove the belt, maybe you should unplug the wires from it too.

just a thought

Won't hurt anything to have the wires connected.

Thanks for all your help guys, I just ended up changing all of them since I had to take them all off to get at that one!! It'll be safer anyway since I have to drive from Guelph, Ont, to Kingston on Saturday. Thanks!!
