How can i disable my cold start injector?

Hey all! I was wondering how i could disable my cold start injector, just to make sure that isn't the cause of my 11 MPG condition.

I checked my chiltons manuel, and saw an odd little two nubs for the picture of where the cold start injector fuse is, but when i checked my fuse panel, it was very diffrent from the one they printed.

Also, hehe where is the cold start injector anyway? Anyone have a picture or can someone give me a good description of where the little monkey is?

Thanks guys!

As far as I know the cold start in injector is on teh DS TPI runners. Its a small tube between the 2 front and the 2 back runners. You can't miss it. Why would you want to disable it, I don't think it does anything after the intitial start and don't understand how it could casue bad mpg. Just my 0.02$.

Well, my fan is wired to always be on, and i have had a mechanic try to install a new temperature sensor in the car, which he couldn't figure out.

So I was figuring somehow maybe my ECU is reading really low for the temperature, being as it is disabled and bypassed, and it is firing the cold start injector. From what i remember reading here, someone had a similar problem, where their ECU thought the engine temperature was like 4 degrees, and because of that, fired off the cold start injector like mad to warm up the engine with excess fuel.

Anyone else think this could be a possibility for me?

The ECM doesnt control the cold-start injector. There is a temperature valve on the front of the intake manifold that controls it. Just unhook it to disable it.

If the csi is physically leaking, unhooking it won't do anything. You would need to plug the fuel line to it. You could just disconnect the square plugged csi timer in the front of the intake (The oval plug is the cts)

To see if it's leaky, remove the one bolt holding it and bend it out of the way and shove something in the hole to plug the vacuum leak. Then start the car (or just run the fuel pump) and check. Do this at your own discression as fuel will probably be aimed right at the exhaust manifolds...

The csi isn't ecm controlled, the sender for it is a bimetallic switch and is only powered while cranking the starter. It really only works when it's very cold out and probably doesn't even turn on in the summer even if the motor is stone cold.
