Dave Vizard ... Who is this guy?

I'm looking for a few good books, on engine mods, and it seems like Dave Vizard has his name plastered to every small block Chevy book on the planet, not to mention Desktop Dyno. Who is he, what has he done, and why should I trust what he says about "modifying the small block Chevy." As far as I know, he could drive an Escort. What are his credentials?

You might be right about the escort

Sounds like he has a pretty sound knowledge base though

I came into the motor racing business as a consultant straight out of the aerospace industry. I worked as an R&D engineer in a lab that pretty much required an engineering degree to get a foot in the door. We used computers to help solve engineering problems back in 64.

The only complaint I've heard about his books is that sometimes he gets too technical, and the info flies over your head if you don't already have an idea what he's talking about. I have one of his books, and it's great. Very good explanations, lots of pictures, easy to undrstand.

I have one of his books,"How to build Max Performance Chevys" he goes more into explaining how and why things work instead of just saying "two plane intakes are better than single plane intakes for everyday street driving".Depending on your level of knowledge this book might be of value, don't know abut his other books.
