Fluctuating tachometer needle, and car choking and sputtering Big thank you's for everyone who has read and responded to my previous posts. I have a 1982 Pontiac T/A it has a 350ci 1978 camaro engine installed and it just passed a 1000 miles. It also has a new edelbrock 600cfm carburetor #1400. I changed the air filter about a month ago but I haven't changed the oil or the oil filter yet. The other day I went about 80mph and after I came to a stop at a light when I proceeded to drive again, the car started choking and sputtering really badly. Even now the tachometer is going crazy when I start the car. I also took a look at the air filter and its as black as when I replaced it and the carburetor is pretty black as well. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions on how to handle this situation? Any help is always appreciated. bandit_knight |
Its running realy rich. Check your idle mixture screws. If it is running rich once it is above idle you will need to re jet the carb. |
