how much HP?

ok so ive got an 87 z28. ive got a 350 with stock carb, edlebrock intake, 65000 volt HEI distributor, edlebrock headers, hollowed cat., and a 700r4 tranny. mostly all stock. now i kno it aint no race car but it is a performance car. i have just stock tires and rims. im wondering about how much torque and horsepower im making i dont kno the true specs or anything but the estimates would be good.also if i took it to the track what would i be running. i have drag tires that i put on every now and then(they are similar to the old m50 stlye ones) and they wont even hold my car i can just sit there and burn them all day(trust me ive tried in front of my friends house). im just wondering if you could give me an idea of it all. thanks

probably 220 to the wheels, you would run in the 14.5ish range

ok my turn to jump on the air dyno!!! I have a 350 .030 over with stock 461 heads.(camel humps) I have an Edelbrock single plane intake and a holley 650 dp carb. My cam is a Comp hydraulic flat tappet with 218/224 duration and .462/.469 lift at .050. flat top pistons also. Where do you think i'm sittin?Sorry i forgot to mention i have a turbo350 trans.

Re: how much HP?

good guess! you're not really that far off. I had it dynoed recently at 281 hp at 5900 and 332 torque at 4200. i guess i should have mentioned the 3.23 rear gears and that it was balanced and blueprinted.

That's very very vague. Heads and cam are the only thing that REALLY determine the HP and you haven't mentioned what those are! Cough up specs. There was 40 years of 350's, which STOCK 350 do you have??

It's a fair guess that it's a factory truck engine with flat tappet cam and swirl port heads. Stock LG4 exhaust is going to kill whatever you have in there.

Z28baynard - I would agree with these guys, without heads/cam specs anythings a wild guess - figuring the worst - the truck motor with the junk heads, yea, maybe 220 to the wheels, if its an L98 swapped to carb, maybe 15-25hp more. You got some good supporting breathing mods on the intake and exhaust side already, and it should have good ignition.

Take it to the track and find out! If you can hook it up it will go at least mid 14's, maybe more depending on whats really in there.

I bet you could make just as much horsepower with even more torque at lower revs with a dual plane intake, just dosesn't seem like the heads/cam are wild enough to merit a single plane. I'm just curious if you've tried different intakes and whats worked best for you - thats about the duration I'm looking at for my heads/cam upgrade to my 305 - but I'm thinking SDPC Vortec heads clearenced for .525 lift, and the Perf. RPM airgap, and a cam with about the duration, but some more lift to take advantage of those heads.
