91 camaro rs 305 tbi Problem please help ok so the car has sat for 15 years then i got it replaced the fuel pump and fuel filter. rebuilt throttle body and drove it one trip to my house and let it sit for 3 days to clean and get things done to it and then changed spark plug wires and cleaned engine bay. went to start it and it wouldnt idle when you give it gas it bogs out and at wot it just bogs itself out till it dies. it also has a surging idle. so i started replacing things off my other camaro. replaced ecm map coolant temp sensor alternator est cap rotor plugs wires distributor pickup coil idle air control tps egr valve pcv and removed the cat now if any one has any experience and any ideas please help with any ideas thanks |
Re: 91 camaro rs 305 tbi Problem please help so it ran like a car sitting for 15 years on the way to your house... but ran good enough to drive you didnt by any chance take a power hose of any type to the engine bay did you? what did "cleaning" the engine bay entail? or you have the plug wires routed wrong... if that is all you did then it must be what has caused the problem |
Re: 91 camaro rs 305 tbi Problem please help have you checked the oxygen sensor after siiting that long im sure it didnt burn that clean when it first got going may have clogged up the oxygen sensor |
Re: 91 camaro rs 305 tbi Problem please help ok so after killing my brain thinking about this i took the fuel pump back out and comes to find out the fuel pump was dieing again and the fuel sending unit was shorting the pump put the one from my other car into it and it runs perfect now |
Re: 91 camaro rs 305 tbi Problem please help so after you replaced the fuel pump it ran fine for a while then quit because i am having similar problems with mine (just pulled out of storage) replaced the fuel pump and filter and it did not improve. wondering if yours worked for a bit so i can figure out if that might be what happened to mine. |
Re: 91 camaro rs 305 tbi Problem please help yea it worked for a little bit like two starts and quit when i looked at the terminals on the pump it looks like it was arching out on the fuel sending unit |
