block casting #'s

Ok a few of you may know me and my car as it is my first camaro and I have wanted 1 since highschool, but enuff bout that I was told that my car was a 305 car that had been changed to a 350 by the person I bought it off. I have been suspcious of this since then, so I looked at the casting # on the block and expecting a # I would have to look up and get what it translates to I got my ? answered and me confused at the same time. So this brings me to the reason for this post. When I looked at the casting # this is what was there(the first digit maybe wrong due to lots of build up and a quick look)L57LHO, and I'm not sure but i swear there was a period between the 5 n 7. So to me this indicates a 5.7l block???? Right??? Can anyone clue me in please???/:confused::confused::confused:

where did you find that #, the casting numbers are behind the driver side valve cover on top of the bellhousing flange. If you still have the motor in the car look straight down from the winshield wiper motor

Re: block casting #'s

thatis exactly where i found it. I took a closer look and the first digit isnt an L its the end of GM inside a box so it is 5.7LHO is what is stamped on the block behind the head on the bell housing. I did see in a Chevy power mag that they had a block with the GM in a square and 5.7LO stamped on it. So I would like some info on this block.
