jacking points on the REAR??

Hey guys, I was wondering if anybody has a diagram of safe jacking/jack stand points on the rear of a thirdgen. I already saw that front-end diagram which I'm sure most of us have seen but now I'm looking for the rear-end. Thanks!

That's it? Any places that'll take the weight off the axle in case I wanna drop the rear end? Since that's what I'm planning on doing.

Re: jacking points on the REAR??

if it were me, i'd jack under the rear end (but not under the cover, ive made that mistake) and get the car up in the air, then put a jackstand under the "frame" portion on each side and release the jack. that way you dont have any twisting of the body while you jack up one side then the other.
its also safer because you arent jacking a car up thats already on jackstands on one side.

the "frame" points are easy to find.
they are basically the most built up spots back there.
i believe you can also put jack stands under the part where the LCA's mount to the body, but a bit infront of the bolts
dont quote me on that part however.

Yes, right under the rear subframe, in front of where the LCAs bolt up.

Around where the pedestals are located here:

Oh gotcha... so pumpkin to get it up there, then the "frames" on both sides to keep it up right?

Re: jacking points on the REAR??

Or simply jack there but if you want to jack up the whole rear to drop the axle, jack under pumpkin and put jackstands in those locations

its the easiest, safest, and simplest way.
its not often that those three adjectives can all three be used in a sentence and all be true lol.

This is how you jack up and support a third gen.

That's pretty handy, thanks! So the "frames" on a unibody are called torque boxes?

Seriosuly, who is the source of that info and is qualified to claim certain points are the only acceptable lifting points? You can jack the car up from under the control ams any day, you can also jack under the torque boxes, it's not a problem just use a padded jack and not one with a cup with "teeth" that dent up the underside.

Re: jacking points on the REAR??

i agree...
if you have SFC's you can jack anywhere along the side of the vehicle as well. as long as you are jacking on the SFC's you are ok.

ive jacked under the a-arms many times without any ill effects.

No the 4 "torque boxes" on a unibody car are on specific points of the sub frame(s). Usually where the suspension attach points are. (rear lower control arms.) Not anywhere on the frame. The front torque box location on a third gen's sub frame is pretty obvious.

If raising up on a hoist use the four torque box locations (red squares on the diagram)
