2nd Dead Battery- Weird Noise, What's this part 1 Attachment(s) In the past 2-3 months I've had my battery drained to near dead twice for no apparent reason. Nothing was left on. 1st battery came with the car didn't look old, so just chalked it up to needing replaced. Now the car won't start or take a jump, clicks a few times but doesn't turn over. I put a battery jumper on it and left it for an hour, get a little bit of accessory power but again nothing turns over. That's when I hear a strange buzzing near the battery. It's coming from this part that is circled in red. any idea? |
Re: 2nd Dead Battery- Weird Noise, What's this part Some relays will buss because there's just enough juice to energize it, but to weak to keep it stay closed. Take the battery to a parts store and have it tested. Then take the car to have charging system tested as well. |
Re: 2nd Dead Battery- Weird Noise, What's this part walked to a parts store to buy a charger, since the wife is out of town with our other vehicle. It's taking a charge now, but I'll get the alternator tested as well once it's running. |
Re: 2nd Dead Battery- Weird Noise, What's this part If it's taking a few days at least for the battery to drain, listen at the trunk for the fuel pump (better yet crawl under and put ear to tank). If the pump is humming with key off and in pocket, then you have a bad oil pressure sending unit (they have a direct wire from battery to fuel pump, and can go bad in a way that they 'think' they have oil pressure when they don't, and thus makes the fuel pump run constantly. It's a longshot, but it's something most don't think to check as a battery draw when key is off. |
Re: 2nd Dead Battery- Weird Noise, What's this part do you have a seperate voltage regulator? |

Re: 2nd Dead Battery- Weird Noise, What's this part great, whatever I did when trying to jump start it ( I saw the tach needle go all the way up and stick). Now the tach won't work |
