1986 irco convertible wont run right, no power, really rough idle

my 86 iroc vert wont run right at all,

has new plugs, new distributor, newer wires, new fuel pump,

it ran fine one day, then the next i started it and a TON of black smoke came out of my tail pipes, and it acted like in was in N in all gears, i would have to put it in gear, then back into park then back into gear,

when i pull it into gear and try to do a burnout it wont break free, and wont rise over 3,000 RPM, and thats with my foot to the floor,

when i replaced the pump itsounded alittle weak when i first turned the key, and it still does, could it be bad? and could it be flooding my plugs out?

no. no cat.. been deleted.. has headers. took four plugs in the front of the motor out cleaned them, sanded them with 1200 grit sand paper, put them back in ran good all day yesterday, and now its doing the same thing, no power..

when i took my plugs out, they were black, it looked like oil but it wasnt it was fuel..
i know my car is running rich, what are some things that i can check.. also it is backfiring really REALLY bad... if you want ill take a video and post it...

oh and the car has 5000 miles on the rebuild,

it has an accel distributor with msd ignition coil, ac delco plugs, and 8 mm wires,

other then that and its upgraded High flow runners, bigger throttlebody and the cold air intake headers and deleted cat its stock,

i checked the firing order and tomorrow im going to do the timing with a timing light,

ive got it running semi decently, i took the plugs out and put them on to a wire wheel and cleaned them till they were looking like platnum,

so now it runs ok, but it still lacks alittle power that it should have,

and its idling funny but its running better then it ever has since i bought it,

i bought it non running, and needing finishing touches, changed the plugs and it started right up, then it started fouling out plugs,

ive wire wheeled 6 of the 8 plugs cause i didnt have time to jack the car up and take them out from the bottom,

and how i fixed it to run this good was there was a stud broken off one of the distributor wire connecters, so i wrapped a 22 gauge wire around the inner part of the plug wire that connects to the distributor and shoved it down into the holee where the stud broke out of, and it runs decent, so i need a new cap,

i think once i get a new cap and do the timing, itll be running great,

but i have the feeling its going to foul out the plugs again.

any tips to check and maybe fix the fouling plug problem?

Thanks for the help guys, I really apreciate it

and yes the fuel system is all stock exept for the 24LB injectors,

not sure how much bigger those injectors are then stock but they may be a little big and cause you to run very rich. I would get a new cap asap as you could just be getting weak spark and thats not causing a complete burn

Replacing our old 22# injectors with bigger 24# injectors is popular and the extra two pounds sounds good but I will bet that that is the source of your fouled plugs.

If those 24# injectors were previously used, there is no guarantee that they aren't leaking too. Check the fuel pressure at the fuel rail, it should be ~42-47 psi when not idling and with a factory pressure regulator. Leave the gauge connected then stop the engine and note how quickly the fuel pressure drops. If the fuel rail doesn't hold pressure for at least 20 seconds your injectors may be leaking.
