double hump heads and alternator?

So as you guys may know i'm rebuilding my 383. tring to find a set of decent heads. I can get a set of double hump heads for 400. One of my problems right now is the heads are old and have no bolt holes in them for alt. and power steering. is there any way to get around this problem. or do i have to wait to find a different set of heads

Depends on the heads.

If they're the kind with bolt holes such as 186 castings, no problem.

If on the other hand they're the kind without, then the workaround costs about as much as a set of heads that actually fits. I wouldn't pay $400 for the non-bolt-hole kind even if they did fit my car, for other reasons.

:thanks: yeah i was checking on some brakets pricing and i have to agree with you. gets to pricey with all that would be involved. they have no bolt holes

Yeah... then just leave me for the next "greater fool".

People have been trying to figure out a way to use those since the mid-70s. They're one of those things that just won't die. An amusing by-product is people who think they can "just drill & tap em".... problem is, there's nothing there to drill & tap. They don't realize how thin and hollow a head is.
