power steering pump pulley removal

So the only thing left I need to transfer from my 305 to my new 355 is my power steering pump but can't figure out how to remove the pulley to get to the bolts that are underneath. Any help would be appreciated, don't wanna go out and get a pulley puller and ruin the pulley if I can avoid it. Thanks for the help

I have a steering wheel puller kit with a bunch of attachments (in an unknown location in my garage at the moment). Anyone know if these kits are universal? Meaning, will some of the attachments in a S.W. kit work on a P.R. kit? I'm just curious.

No you have to get a special puller. That thing looks like an installer more than a puller. You usually get a kit that has both. They both use that same giant bolt.

That's a puller. It has two half clamshells that you put around the snout of the pulley. Then you put the ring over it to hold them together. Put a wrench on the hex head at the end of the bolt, and put another on the assembly holding the pulley snout, and start crankin that bad boy off. It's a pretty annoying job. Those things are on there TIGHT.

rent it from your local auto parts place so you dont have to actually buy one.

Infernal is right TIGHT and then some! Have some WD-40 or PB Blaster handy. Going back on is fun too.

The second picture looks much better. It's a special puller that slips over the collar on the pulley. A generic puller will not remove the pulley no matter how much you try, without damaging the pulley.

As mentioned above, you can usually rent the tool. An impact gun makes using pullers a lot easier but lots of muscles can also do the job. It just takes longer.
